Trouble updating tO ML

I have a retail SL cd that is 10.6

Downloaded 10.6.8 combo update

Everything works under 10.6, soon as i reboot SL Wont load, it just reboots after the chimeria screen. Ive installed the SL kernal fo 10.6.8 but osx tools wouldnt let me repair the permissions. When i try to boot with the cd i used for 10.6 it says

Postbootmounter: no ram disk specified exiting

I dont have an 8 gig usb drive so i was planning on installing ML from inside 10.6.8

Ivy bridge i7 3770

mobo - b75 pro3-m

16 gb ddr3

Network + sound kexts working

Also, why does it show i only have 2 gig of ram in osx?..

Ive been googling myself tomdeath for 4 days str8 now, any guidance would be much appreciated

Install the latest chameleon to your hard drive and use that to boot the installer.

Ivy bridge only has support from 10.7.5 onwards. prior to this you will need the legacy kernel.

Don't use crappy-beast or any of the other {censored} tonymac has to offer.

You don't need lion to install ML.

Use a HDD partition, either way, as long as you can see it from chameleon you'll be fine.

DVD wont work as chameleon wont boot dvd/cd unless using cdboot (only on boot disks as far as I know).

quit trying to use DVD's, do all from thumb drive(which you don't have, so for every guide of whatever, where it says thumb drive/USB drive, just substitute your little 10gig partition instead)

edit: refreshed browser and saw JamesLitter's post above, sorry for the repeat comment

you booting ML or Snow? Snow is no go :) Also need a valid smbios inside /Extra/ folder on the installer partition

ML, i had to have snow leopard installed to install chameleon

Is it because i need to get rid of the SL partition and erase the disk to guid?

Inject a different System Identifier.

Use MacPro4,1 or MacPro5,1, use Chameleon Wizard to generate a new Serial Number, it must be recognised as genuine and must match your system identifier for iCloud, App Store and Face Time.
