Any successful instal on a dell xps 420? [success!]

If anyone have figure it out, please share how you got it to boot and what did you use. I'm on lion running smoothly. But can't seem to boot ML after the install. Stuck on waiting for root device...

thanks to RaMDaY with the needed kext.

 

LegacyAppleAHCIPort.kext

LegacyAppleAHCIPortIntelICHx.kext

 

and set Raid to On in BIOS

 

everything was smooth sailing after that.

 

any fellow XPS 420 user need help let me know. i'll do everything i can to pay-it-forward

Hey i have an XPS 420 as well....I upgraded the ram, vid card and hard drive in the system.

 

I have 10.6.8 running smooth right now...slight hiccup trying to install ML but running ok still.

 

During the steps using tony macs method with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]....it doesn't seem to copy the ML files to the usb drive....literally takes 30 seconds for the ###### install.

 

Any pointers on how you got Lion to work? maybe that can help with ML .

i dont' like to use those. take some time and do the prep manually. i know it's a pain, but you'll appreciate it

What did you do with the kext that let you boot?
I'm at the same point with a smooth install that I can't boot from.

 

UPDATE: This is what 3square directed me to:

I install all my kexts with Kext Wizard

Place those kext in your s/l/e system/library/extensions folder"
