3square Posted August 4, 2012 Share Posted August 4, 2012 hello all! appreciate any inputs DELL XPS 420 running Lion perfectly updated up to 10.7.3 i used myHACK to prep the usb drive. the install went fine, but can't seem to boot into it. one thing i notice is at first the installer couldn't find my HD (SATA). I had to add a next for it to see the HD. the error was "waiting for DMOS", i'm guessing it's about not finding the HD. was there any changes to the ML regarding the KEXT responsible for seeing the HD? thanks again everyone. bigpoppa206 Posted August 4, 2012 Share Posted August 4, 2012 What are you using for a boot loader? Most are using Chameleon available here: (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075) and make sure you get the one for Mtn Lion. You need to get a copy of that first, reboot your computer with myHack (since it does have a boot loader on it) and once you get passed the POST part of your BIOS and into the Chameleon loader, you should see the USB stick and the hard drive. Select the hard drive and boot. Once you get up and running, run the Chamaelon installer making sure you select your hard drive as the boot drive and install. 3square Posted August 6, 2012 Author Share Posted August 6, 2012 hi, thanks for replying. i'm not quite sure which version of chameleon myHack uses. but i downloaded the newest myHACK. i'm planning to prep the USB drive manually once i have some time, to isolate the problem. I understand i need to first boot into ML to install the boot loader onto the hard drive. That is the problem i'm facing.
