USB mass storage devices not mounting

Hey, i wonder if anyone else is experiencing thins ..

After upgrading to ML on my Dell Vostro 3450 (it is UEFI capable, but for some reason Dell has decided to disable GPT support on this machine) that has been installed to an MBR partitioned disk i'm experiencing some strange behavior with USB mass storage devices such as flash drives and USB HDDs. Previously I had 10.7.4 running without a single problem..

Now, apart from the {censored} that ML brought me such as:

a. Still waiting for root device if AHCIBlockStorage is not patched (thanks bcc9 .. again)

b. After tampering with the sources today I was unable to implement the un-mute feature for my EADP on node 0x14 for ALC269

c. HD 3000 is getting random artefacts and lines/cubes all over the place

d. Battery will last about 1-1.5 hour less than it used to last in 10.7.4 . .also I can't seem to display the "time" it will last, only percentage option is there..

To add up to all that ... I'm now unable to use ANY of mass storage devices I have around my household. Any HID or peripheral device (such as printer) would work exceptionally well, however If I plug in a mass storage device it gets detected in System profiles, but it wouldn't mount. If i go to Disk utility and try to mount it from there it just says that it couldn't be mounted and suggest to run First Aid, which obviously fails since all of my mass storage devices are FAT32 or NTFS.

In the console it shows up like this if I plug a flash drive in:

diskarbitrationd: unable to mount dev disk1s1 (status code 0x0000001C)

I have dug through Google and it appears to be a common problem even for some native hardware Mac users ever since 10.4.9 was released. The bug is not persistent and has been there only in some versions of OS X. I have tried to roll back the USB kexts from DP4, from 10.7.4 and 10.7 releas from MAS (which I still have backed up at hand) .. the results are the same - it never mounts.

Funny thing is, if I clone my ML partition to a usb stick through a bootable media and boot that stick as if it was my main partiton - all the mass storage devices i throw at it are getting mounted with no problems what so ever... so it only happens when my installation is on the machine's internal drive.

Suggestions, anyone?

I guess I will be reinstalling 10.7.4 sooner or later just to make sure it still works there.

Yeah i do have the same experienced with you. Dell Vostro 3450 do support UEFI but They blocked it from booting UEFI. I google'd everywhere bout' unlocking the bios but I think there's no one has the solution yet. Can't run GPT on this model. It also doesn't allow us to boot from SD Card Reader. Too bad.

Regarding about USB Mass storage devices I do have the same experienced too with ML. It sometimes can detect and mount then after transferring few files its automatically force eject. Had tried few USB 3.0 kext and result was the same. Well... back to 10.7.4 i suppose.
