rcork
I use to complain that my hack would never autosleep due to the known issue with certain DVD drives. Well with 10.8, that is no longer an issue (system autosleeps perfectly without dvd in the drive). However, the system no goes to sleep when running applications that used to prevent sleep. For example, when using Handbrake on 10.7, the system would not go to sleep since the CPU was busy encoding. However, now my system goes to sleep in the middle of an encode. Same thing with MakeMKV. During the middle of a rip, the system will go to sleep. Anyone else seeing similar behavior?
eep357
try typing pmset -g in terminal while any of those are running and see if they appear in the list of application ID's that will currently prevent sleep
rcork
They don't set any assertions but i don't believe they did under Lion either. I thought OSX had some basic things that prevented sleep like copying files or high CPU usage. I'm going to test on my MacbookPro and see if it has the same behavior.
