Sn1pest3r
I haven't accessed my OSX Lion in a while, so i decided to do it yesterday, all fine and well, the software updater detected a lot of updates available, so i made all of em, and one of them was a Combo update, after i restarted my computer, after osx loads, once it gets to the login screen, it's all messed up, i can't really see anything, i get all kind of lines and stuff, i tried reinstalling nvenabler (with vmware), but still didnt do it, any suggestions? everdone
Big, Huge problem - you did not provide enough information for anyone to really diagnose your problem! My supposition is that you either originally installed from a distro or using a "magic stick" that had you pick and choose from a menu indicating your hardware. Bottom line is that neither method leaves a clue as to what is actually installed in the way of modified or extra drivers (kexts in the Mac world). When one updates the system (10.7.2 to 10.7.3 for example) on a Mac, vitrually all the existing Mac kexts are replaced with ones from the new version (the ComboUpdate in your case). The only 'old' kexts remaining are non-Apple ones that have been added, any modified Mac kexts have been replaced by the update. The problem you describe is a video problem. I suspect your original install included a modified Mac kext for your video card that has been replaced by the 'new' Mac kext. Result is your video card no longer works. You will need to figure out what video kexts were installed originally (probably modified mac kexts in the distro) and try re-installing those (the nvenabler kext doesn't count as it is a non-mac kext). Another approach would be to start from the beginning and no not install the ComboUpdate.
Sn1pest3r
I installed Lion 10.7 a while ago, i used the retail one, installed it on a usb hard drive, and then modified it with kexts and stuff, i didnt really modify anything except for adding the kexts to make it actually work
everdone
After the update, you need to reinstall those kexts which made it work on the original install.
Gringo Vermelho
Only if they were modified Apple kexts. 3rd party kernel extensions don't get wiped out during an update, that would be very bad for business.
Sn1pest3r
I reinstalled the 3rd party kernels, most of them at least, and now it's working, only without audio and i'm not getting the graphic acceleration or whatever it's called, for some reason nvenabler it's not doing its job
