Nick Bouwhuis
This may seem like a strange problem, but after I boot Lion on my Dell Optiplex 745, it takes a long time until I can do something, the mouse moves, but I can't click or type anything. After a few minutes, the system works normal. Now, I'm a pretty smart with hackintoshes, but could not figure this problem out. Here are the specs of my computer: 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 80 GB Samsung Harddrive 1 GB 531 MHz ECC DDR2 SDRAM (installed Lion with custom OSInstall.mpkg) NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE 256 MB (If you need more, just tell me) (This is just a hobby PC I got for free, so yeah, it's {censored}) Thanks for helping me out! rlf
1. Go to Console and scroll the log to the point just after booting and see if there are errors or something is hogging the system. 2. It would be nice to look at Activity Monitor during this time to see if anything is hogging the system. But you can't open it until you regain control. But Lion has the built-in resume feature. When you regain control of the system, go open Activity Monitor and click on the CPU column so the highest CPU usage is at the top. Now, if you reboot, Activity Monitor will automatically reopen during the boot and you can watch it to see if anything is hogging your system during the period that you cannot control it. If some app seems to be pegging out CPU at a high number or stays at the top of the list for a long period of time, that is something to look into. 3. Go to System Preferences -> Users & Groups -> YOU -> Login Items and see if there is anything being started during login that might take over the system for a period of time. Nick Bouwhuis
@rlf I already had this when I was installing, so I don't think there is an app responsible
