DP3 Sound assertion in applehdadriver at line 1077 and 1052

I have done a clean install of DP3 but when I try to boot the partition from the usb installer I get the above message.

I have managed to boot DP3 by installing Kakewalk to it from Lion but I would really like to get away from Kakewalk and understand my system better.

So I have reinstalled DP3 again and am back at the error.

I assume I need to remove the hda driver and the easiest way is probably from my Lion partition, but if my ML was the only partition how would I go about it?

Mike

Well I used Lion to removed Applehdadriver from ML and now get stuck at,

AGPM controller unknown platform

I wish I knew what changes Kakewalk makes so that I could learn to make them myself.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

As I know Kakewalk isn't compatible yet with any Mountain Lion!

How did you succed to install MLion using Kakewalk?!

I installed MLdp3 to a separate hard drive using a usb stick installer.

I then ran Kakewalk from my Lion install and installed it to the ML hard drive, I then ran the ML Chameleon installer and installed that to the ML hard drive.

I have also updated my Lion hard drive with the latest Chameleon so that I can boot it from there.

Crabhunter: You should only need two kexts to boot - Fakesmc and NullCPU, these should be in the Extensions folder inside Extra on the ML install. I am not sure specifically what Kakewalk installs, but in addition to some version of the two listed above, it will also add something for audio and ethernet. Whatever its adding its causing a problem so forget using Kakewalk.

Do a fresh install of DP3 from the USB install stick. After install boot back into Lion and run the Chameleon installer, installing to the ML drive. On your Lion drive there should be a Extra folder, inside should be Simbios, boot.plist and DSDT files. There should also be an Extensions folder. Inside should be Fakesmc and NullCPU kexts (there may be others). Copy the Extra folder and paste it to the root of the ML install. If Fakesmc and NullCPU are not in the Extensions folder on Lion, look in the Extensions folder on the USB install drive, copy from there and paste into Extensions on ML, if pasting from the Lion Extensions folder remove any kexts other than those mentioned. The boot.plist file now on ML should have a UseKernelCache flag, make sure that is set to No.

Before rebooting search and download KextWizard, you will use this later to install kexts to ML.

You should now be able to boot into ML. If you use verbose (-v) mode you will see a long list of kexts loading as we are not now using the cache. After boot it is not likely that audio and ethernet will work, you will need appropriate kexts for those functions. You will need to do a little research to find what kexts work for audio and ethernet. The ethernet kext you are using on Lion should work on ML, if the audio fix on Lion came from Kakewalk, then it is questionable if that works on ML as you got an error earlier using Kakewalk. Once you finds kexts you want to try, use KextWizard to install them to S/L/E (System/Library/Extensions) on the ML install.

Thanks everdone, I am able to do as you say. I used most of what you said to create the installer.

What I can't do is boot the ML partition for the first time after install using the bootloader on the usb installer.

Kakewalk works very well I only have to add shutdown and ps2 to complete the setup but if I could

understand how to get ML to boot from usb installer I'm sure I could do the rest.

Sorry, didn't fully understand what you were trying to do. I can boot from my USB install stick. At the boot screen with the Chameleon timeout bar if I tap the space bar I get a choice of the USB or the ML HD to continue to boot from. Select the ML HD using arrow keys, type in any manual flags, hit return and the machine boots in ML.
