level70steve
Okay, I bought this laptop at a computer show for about roughly $160.00. These are the current specs: GPU: ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 (onboard) CPU: 1.6GHz AMD Turion X2 TL-50 (Taylor) RAM: 512MB/266MHz Hyundai DDR2 (Slot 1) RAM: (same)(Slot 2) MB Model: Blade-K8F MB Manufacturer: Gateway MB Chipset: ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) MB Southbridge: ATI SB400 Sound: High Definition Audio Device (onboard) HDD: 80GB WDC WD800BEVE-00A0HT0 ATA Of course, you can get these specs using both System Information in your Windows Start Menu (All Programs -> Accessories -> System) and CPU-Z. Now I got mine listed down, I have ran numerous distro's outside this web site to see which would work. iDeneb (all versions): Not tried yet iATKOS v7 (10.5.6): Installs nicely, but crashes and reboots afterwards after installation was finished. Like what happened here? Did I do anything else wrong besides installing a bad distro? iATKOS (all other versions): Not tried yet, but would not also want to waste my time. To me, personally, it is because it is an assumption that if v7 doesn't work or even boot right, it won't work at all and I need the hardware for such a thing. iPC 10.5.6: Either I had a bad copy, or it would not boot at all, not even an installer. This was frustrating. iPC (all other versions): Not tried yet, but same reason and assumption as iATKOS. Kalyway 10.5.2: The only distro that would install and behave! I get no sound and I still have not found anything that would support my on-board ATI Radeon. Kalyway (all over versions): So far as a newcomer to the OSx86 movement, I have not heard any news about other OSX versions although some say it can be possible to upgrade system software to 10.5.6. This topic can be a support thread, give-or-take. This may be useful if your laptop's specs are as similar as mine - if it is, read this carefully so this will save you a headache.
