Hello there, Acro here :).

I wanted to start this topic for a few reasons. firstly the Acer 5750 is an absolute pig to get working, it does depend on your setup but i feel i have taken the necessary steps to get my setup to a decent standard. i know of another user who is collaborating with me with his 5750 (not the G edition). the purpose of this topic is generally debugging various issues including minor issues. i am by no means an expert i think it would take me 10 years to work out all the problems by myself.

Reasons why a public thread is a good idea.

1) we are using dramatically different results and several oddities that shouldn't be happening.

2) i can tell you about all the steps i have taken.

3) i can post my dsdt and error logs here in the hope that somebody excellent can identify problems that need fixing and things that are just a result of being a hackentosh

Special Thanks to:

Pookeymacman for general troubleshooting and LatinMcg for making my DSDT a little bit better.

i owe you both a beer.

I have attached an rtf with all the errors i get during boot, my system boots but i certainly dont think its stable. Also i have attached LatinMcg's Dsdt edit with Darwin added to Win2009 (D) and the one without (no D).

i have Dyslexia and have misread and posted in wrong section please move to notebooks mr/mrs moderators

i have noticed that my hd3000 graphics are registered for a couple of boots but for some reason it forgets the graphics, i suppose thinking back it could be when i installed chameleon to the hdd. thus forgetting my smbios and org.chameleon.boot.plist. i can still have transparency and can change res, but say i wanted to do some 3d design. < and i do.

What steps did you take to get your HD3000 working? I've been helping someone with a 5750 and it hangs at DSMOS Arrived unless we remove the Intel kexts and force it to VESA mode (no transparency, no res change, no acceleration/qe/ci).

Which version of 10.7.x are you currently running?

Thanks.

Hi im glad this is helpfull to sombody as i hoped it might. so yes i am on 10.7.0 and will not be updating for a while. i have spent relentless months getting to lion and now i have everything working apart from the small system profiler error as mentioned. it wasnt always like this. a fresh install allowed me to see hd3000 right away.

i used myhack method with a few tweaks that allowed the installer to boot. give me 5 mins and i will get some files up and some links to help you out.

i just want to say i have sound, sd card reader full res trackpad and correct macbook pro 8.2 system definition and cpu recognised. everything is working great and looks fantastic

apologies, im just installing ubunt and then i will help you out

use http://myhack.sojugarden.com/ method to create a 8gb usb installer.

then replace the usb installers extra with the custom one i made. i think i added the latest fakesmc to the installers S/L/E just for good measure its also contained in the extra folder.

this should boot into lion and hd3000 should be up and working. there may be a hang with the pcie card so just remove it before installer :)

your fiend will need to have a usb keyboard and mouse for the installer. (I'm not a big fan of this but i was so fed up so i used tonyma.cx86's multi.beast to quickly get the ps2 keyboard kext and recently used chi.mera instead of chameleon as it seems to make hd3000 work after it broke as i said eiarler.

i havent tested the Authors, though i do still have it, i think there must be a kext for it out there, osx86.net have got a load of kext packs for the 5750G and other things obviously graphics (nv) won't be compatible but the kexts might help. when i cut my laptop up i did it knowing that i wouldn't be selling it until its value had depreciated anyway, i also didn't know much about anything osx86 wise, i do not regret it because i can use any card i like now but there are several things to consider before doing something like that.

I'm very keen to get a dsdt sorted out but I'v simply not learned enough to even attempt edits. i will try and track down a brilliant kext pack i found that may be a good place to start as it has a full system setup of a 5750g including dsdt ssdt and the rest.

Hey just to say i have battery working now. YAY. so the only problem is the ocasional CPU/Graphics related KP that happens once a day it goes away after a few restarts, this may be anoying but i class this as a small bug and other than that i have a fully working hackentosh!

now then what should i do to inform the community of how i got to this stage?

  • 1 month later...

updated to 10.7.4 flawlessly, however i have lost battery once more, so i suppose for now its not a laptop again until voodoo come out with an update, i have experience somehow smoother startups but i am unsure what it is thats making it better, there have only been 1 KP rather than the usual 3000 that i get before boot.

EDIT, For me if i ever forget or for anyone trying to get an Lion installer to boot, here take my extra folder. use an extra installer tool like Myhack.
