Alright i wanted to start this and gather information. I have a copy of the Intel/Universal copy of OS X Server 10.4.7 from the demons. Im gonna try and use jas 10.4.7 and pacifist to install the server packages on top of the installation. Unlike the PowerPC way before, this should make headway into a patched dvd. If u can help me please comment.

I ran into this with pacifist too. I found the information in another thread here. You can run the mpkg file with installer with a few changes. First you will need to convert the .dmg you downloaded to read/write using Disk Utility, then mount the read/write image. Right click the MacOSXServerInstall.mpkg, and click show contents. delete VolumeCheck from Contents/Resources, and install with Installer.app. You will need a serial number for OS X Server to complete the installation.

I'm having a bit of trouble and I need some help. I've installed the following server packages on top of my 10.4.8 (8.8.1 kernel):

ApplicationsServer.pkg

QuickTimeStreamingServer.pkg

ServerAdministrationSoftware.mpkg

ServerAdminTools.pkg

ServerEssentials.pkg

ServerSetup.pkg

Now when I go into my sharing folder in System Preferences the only services that are available are Apple Remote Desktop, Remote Apple Events and Remote Login. I can't find any tutorials online on how to get this up and running. I'm trying to get the webserver and FTP service going. I installed OSX Server in the hopes of having an easier time configuring all this. If anybody could point me to a tutorial or give a few tips in here I'd appreciate it. I will continue searching in the meantime, I just thought I'd touch base here in case I was missing something that I overlooked.

Thanks

Well I tried adding the server update minus the kernel (pacifist) and reinstalling the semthex kernel before reboot and it hosed my system. I'm not too upset about that, I knew the risks involved. What really pissed me off was that the partition that I cloned my drive to with superduper wouldn't boot. It was on a seperate hard drive too. I tried using disk utility off of the 10.4.3,10.4.6 and the 10.4.8 but none would let me restore from that partition so I erased and did a clean install. This time the graphics were working perfectly (last time I had to do something to get resolution higher than 1024x768) but now my bluetooth adapter is not being recognized. I still have to get my sound working again. What a freakin mess. Oh well. $hit happens I suppose.
