I have been trying to make a hackintosh out of my laptop (Specs at bottom) using the retail 10.6.x disk and so far nothing has worked completely. I have had the most success with iAtkos S3 V2 but still remain stuck at the installation screen. I have been using iB`oot Legacy and notice that at the boot screen, it shows 2 harddisks with no names. When I finally get to the installation screen and load up Disk Utility it shows -

750 GB SATA

-disk0s1 (greyed)

-disk0s2 (greyed)

-disk0s3 (greyed)

-disk0s4 (greyed)

When I go under the Partition tab, I cannot change any of the current partitions in any way.

Yet when I load Disk management in Windows 7, it only shows -

Disk 0

-System (199 MB)

-C (200 GB)

-Unallocated (498.44 GB)

And in System Information it shows

Partition Disk #0, Partition #0

Partition Size 992.50 KB (1,016,320 bytes)

Partition Starting Offset 32,256 bytes

Partition Disk #0, Partition #1

Partition Size 199.00 MB (208,666,624 bytes)

Partition Starting Offset 1,048,576 bytes

Partition Disk #0, Partition #2

Partition Size 200.00 GB (214,748,364,800 bytes)

Partition Starting Offset 209,715,200 bytes

Partition Disk #0, Partition #3

Partition Size 498.44 GB (535,197,245,440 bytes)

Partition Starting Offset 214,958,080,000 bytes

I am willing to erase my entire harddrive if I need to but would like to possibly try to avoid that. I have already searched around on Google and been trying everything to get this to work for a few weeks but I have not made any progress. Any help will be appreciated!

So far from my post from http://www.tonymacx8...hp?f=34&t=54651 I have been only told to reformat everything, install snow leopard, and then windows 7 (I don't have a genuine W7 disk from HP but I have the pirated version). I would like to eventually try to upgrade to Lion but that is something to worry about later. I wanted to see if anyone has had the same problem or found alternate ways since I have not been given any option but to go in blind reformatting and erasing my HD and risk having an unbootable laptop for a few days. The reason why I have not been able to install Lion is because of the "PMAP_steal_memory" panic with already several arguments running for boot.
