Another Crystal Clear Sign That OS X Is Going to Die Really Soon http://gizmodo.com/5...die-really-soon ................ : "This is it"

I'll correct you.

Mac OS X is already dead (or will be soon, it's a matter of perception), since Mountain Lion is "OS X", without the "Mac" part.

And the only reason for that, is that iOS and Mac OS X are being tied together. Therefore those teams under each technology are being united into one. That's why there is no "VP for OS X or Mac technologies".

Another good example and proof for this, is what's going under the hood, some of which are unknown even here on OSX86. Since SL, OSX has updated roughly (i can't say for sure) 30% of system packages for their newer adapted-BSD counterparts. Why would anyone willing to abandon the system do so?

Alas, read and re-read my signature as much as you need to understand it ;)

P.S. No offense. I just very much dislike those "yellow paper" style articles, anywhere.

OSX and iOS already share the same code base. Indeed at the beginning we used to call iOS "OSX Mobile". They're trying to unify the user experience, not the technologies.

my 2 cents,

A.I.Ghost, if you don't like OSX (which is how your post comes accross) then why are you here?

And have any of you looked at Windows 8? Same thing - aimed at handheld devices, while leaving all those millions of desk/laptops in the lurch. Unless they have improved that over the last two months.

I personally don't like how everything is going mobile, but...

Why would Apple kill their superior desktop operating system?? It's been well built on and established, whereas iOS is, if you will, still in the toddler stages (relative to the ~11 years of (public) OS X and ~28 years of Mac OS, and ~5 years of iOS). They can take ideas from iOS, but to totally eliminate OS X is absurd. They are simply updating OS X with newer features and more punch. :) Even if things are a little too "touchy mobile" to me, it still is the OS X we know and love with natural evolution taking place.

Actually, I know when OS X will die: after 10.9 when they have to switch to 11.0. Welcome to OS XI :D

If OS X were to die and we possibly move to a more mobile OS that could run on them iDevices then there would be no need for desktop or mobile line processors.

Why need the latest quad or hexacore to render a new stage of Angry Birds?

Nuff said.

Correct me if I am wrong, Aren't Gizmodo guy's always against Apple ? .

Also the market for Computers itself is going down against the Smart phones and Tablets, So it is wise to adapt to the current eco system. Why this much fuss on iOS'ing the OS X, didn't they see the Metro UI on Windows 8 ? :D

What ever the OS, if it works well on our computers . Its good :angel_not:

Apples new line of MacBookPros just further shows what rubbish all these apocalyptic, death of OSX posts/articles are. Unless you consider XP dead cause Vista came out, or Vista dead cause Windows 7 came out, but none killed "Windows". Software evolves, it should and always will. Whether you like the changes or not is another topic and opinions always vary, but it does not mean "death". Fact of the matter is OSX is a well established platform on a slower evolving set of hardware, so further developing it does not require the same amount of staff and VP's to watch over them. More 3rd party apps are submitted to the IOS app store every day than the Mac app store because it's a market everyone is tying to get in on and is the most competitive at this time, including companies like Samsung who basically cloned the iPhone. OSX only has to keep up with Windows 8-already done before it's been released. You don't make a gazzilion dollars by being stupid and putting all your recourses where they aren't needed. Someday when tablets and phones are powerful enough to do everything an 8 core desktop can do, it still won't be the end of OSX, just the chance to finally run it (granted, with some changes I'm sure) on these devices instead of the "lite" version. I'm more worried the world will end because of Mayan's and their wacky calendar's than OSX will die because of no actual reason. Your base belong to us!

don't worry 'bout the Mayan calenders, there are only 8 out of more then 20 different calenders ending in december ( besides the fact that their calenders are cyclic and not linear like our stupid one...)

The real Mayans are laughing like mad about

all the western doomsday lovers
