Hey everyone ...

I have MacPro 1,1 with GeForce7300GT graphic adapter and SL 10.6.8 installed ... I need to have another gaphic adapter in MacPro that supports CUDA technology ... so I have a question:

Is it possible to pick PC nVidia card from osx86wiki SL 10.6.8 compatible hardware list that works OOB with just minor adjustments and to make it work along with existing GF7300GT in MacPro 1,1 on existing SL 10.6.8 that works perfectly (for now :)) or that is possible only on hackintosh?

My choice would be ASUS GeForce GT240 because it only needs GraphicEnabler=Yes (as it is written in osx86). I only need to use its GPU to do some CUDA in DaVinci Resolve Lite software. Monitor would be connected via GF7300GT wich would be used as GUI card. Also GT240 would be positioned in slot 1 and 7300GT would be positioned in slot 4.

Does anybody have some experience with this type of dual graphic card combining and is this possible?

If I have understand right, 8800=9800=250 is almost two times

stronger than 240.

I have hacintosh, but my Asus EN9800GT works too with only

GraphicEnabler=Yes. Only hdmi with tv do not works well.

(edit: there is some problem with bios program, because it should works

with external 8800 bios files. I use monitor, and I have no problems at all.

So, 9800/250 have some problems with high density copy protections,

and with tv, but monitors works well)

Several years ago I pay only about 100 euros / cards. (I have 3

cards in three different hackintosh)

240 seems a little bit weak in now days. 9800/250 have 55nm

low power technology with G92 b ( b = improved) - processor.

Memory bus is 256 bit wide. <- This is important details, when You

use card in external math co processor, and Your's machine is

a little bit old. - Meaning, that pci-e is 1.0 or 1.1 -level.

Used GTX 285 perhaps ? This card has osx drivers too, and

bus is even 512 bit wide. Card was expensive, but used is

about 100 euros too in now days.

New machine = fast pci-e clock = not so important bus wide.

Old machine = slow pci-e clock = wide bus is much better thing.

my only question (for now) is ... would PC GeForceGT240 work on MacPro1,1 with GraphicEnabler=Yes or that is only possible on hackintosh ... this is the only question taht I have ... I don't need strong graphic adapter ... it only needs to support CUDA technology wich GT240 does ... so once again:

would PC GeForce GT240 work on MacPro1,1 along with GeForce7300GT ... is that possible?

You can't use GraphicsEnabler=yes on a Mac, GraphicsEnabler is part of the Chameleon boot loader which you should never ever under any circumstances install on a real Mac.

Lots of people use PC video cards on their Mac, but this is very much the wrong place to ask about such things, as you can see the only reply you got was from someone running OS X on a PC, which is what we do here.

I suggest you go to MacRumours or visit Netkas' blog or forum.
