shoobirdy Posted March 3, 2012 Share Posted March 3, 2012 Hi I'm a complete noob when it comes to DSDTs. I've got an Acer 6930g which I can get to 10.6.7 and run nice and stable. But obviously that's not enough - I want Lion! Now a very helpful chap called Marchrius (over at http://hackbookpro.altervista.org/en/ ) has managed to get Lion running with the wifi working and everything. The main turn off for me using mine with SL is I've always had to use a wifi dongle which is just a pain. I've got a Broadcom BCM94321 card apple branded so I know it's Airport capable. I've also installed a bluetooth module into my laptop. Whenever I try to install Lion and get errors relating to either bluetooth or airport, so I'm sure this can be worked around with a DSDT. My questions, simply, are these; 1. If I use the DSDT editor/patcher in Mac OSX to make a DSDT, it has no affect on the errors I receive, would making a DSDT in Linux change this since both wifi and bluetooth work using Ubuntu? 2. How the hell do I use the Linux version (or even the windows one, doesn't matter)? I just get a folder with files in it and don't know what I need to do to turn it into a running program. jabirbin Posted March 3, 2012 Share Posted March 3, 2012 I suppose extracting DSDT through Linux wont change a thing unless you modify/fix it. even though you extract with linux and fix it it'll be the same file to use for Mac osx.dsdt.aml file.You just need to put this in a safe place(e.g. extra folder) and add key+string to your plist file.this will tell your bootloader to use the custom dsdt that you provided rather than the default dsdt supplied by your bios. There's never an easy fix, but I guess that's part of the attraction in doing all this lol I'd love to learn more about DSDT and how to create strings and stuff to use for it, but I just don't know where to start.
