sicily123
Hi, I have a Pc with an AMD FX-4100, 8 Gigs of Ram, and a radeon 6870 2gb. I used Nawcom's Mod CD to install OSX (with a few boot flags) and it succeeds and reboots. After reboot, it starts to boot into OSX, but hangs at Controller will be unloaded across sleep. Could it be that im installing to a usb external 2tb hdd? If anyone knows how to fix this issue, please respond.
PookyMacMan
Please post pics. Also, be sure you are using the latest version of the ModCD (called the OSX86 ModCD), and not the older one (called the nawcom ModCD). I have a detailed OSX86 ModCD installation guide in my signature. Reduce your machine to 4GB of RAM.
danageis
ya I don't think I ever got that specific hangup, but when I was installing on my system I had LOTS of KP's/hangups with multiple distros and ModUSB/ModCD. My system is similar to yours, and what I did to make it work after using Nawcomm's ModUSB was booting with arch=i386 -force64 busratio=XX maxmem=4096
Foxic
If Nawcoms ModCD/USB wont boot the OS (once installed) try using #####. I had to boot the Snow Leopard DVD with Nawcoms ModCD, then once installed I used ##### for the first boot from HDD. sicily123
Tried all your suggestions, but no luck, still not booting and hanging on the same line. Any other ideas?

sicily123
Same as before, something about checksleepcapabilities... Controller will be unloaded across sleep. I'll post pics when I get home. Edit: A clear enough (but a little blurry) pic of the hanging spot.

PookyMacMan
When sitting for a while, does it say "Still Waiting for Root Device"? Boot it in verbose and let it sit for 10 minutes and see if anything happens.

PookyMacMan
mongo, now yours is a little different...you do get to Got Boot Device... I wouldn't think the USB controller issue would prevent booting...anything else happen after a while?
EvilMacMongo
nothing it didn't move for a half hour while I was cleaning house, and the only way I can get it to even to that, also had to for install, was the rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel -v. If I use -x it fails at the tmsafetynet.kext. tried everything, busratio, cpus=kernel panic, but from that pic it looks like it pics up my 4 cores. I also pulled my hardware list from linux so I have all my id's. I can post that if you need Edit: Sorry for threadjacking. Here is my thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=275953&hl=&fromsearch=
sicily123
I don't mind the threadjacking lol, I tried all the solutions, nothing worked, and yes, after it sits i get still waiting for root device.
alaskantraveler
how about: -v -f cpus=1 busratio=20 arch=i386 USBBusFix=Yes ?
EvilMacMongo
the only way I can even get it to that point is the rd(0,0)/Extra/modbin_kernel -v anything else seems to give me a KP
EvilMacMongo
oh and if it makes a difference I am running win 7, ubuntu 11.
PookyMacMan
What boot CD are you using, mongo? You might have to use the modbin kernel for your installation. It's pretty easy to copy. What's your KP? sicily, boot a Linux Live CD, open the Terminal, and type lspci -nn if that doesn't work, type lspci and paste the output here. EvilMacMongo
I'm using the new osx86 boot cd. The only way I could even get it to install and not panic was using modbin. I try that again to boot and it sticks on the screen that I took a pic of.
