[Buy or Trade] iMac(s) with working display - can be non-working

Hello. :)

I've figured out some ways to mod any iMac (G4, G5, or Intel) 24" or less to make it an external monitor. However, I don't have an iMac(s) to work on. :)

All I need is an iMac(s) G4, G5, or Intel with a working display (a.k.a. no scratches; often for iMac G5s "broken screens" are mobo issues). It can be non-functional (as I would gut it out anyway), but it needs to include housing, display, and inverter. The most I'd be willing to pay is $50, probably.

I don't have any fancy computer parts to possibly trade to you instead of money, but I have some basic computer parts (a nice but slightly older PC mobo, CPU, and GPU for example).

Thanks. ;)

I have a 17" iMac g5 (first gen with logic board issue) that I want to do this to. Can you share some info with me on some of your mods? At this point I already have the logic board, hdd (which I'll later install into my playstation 2 ?) and optical drive as well as the fans all removed. What remains is the original lg Phillips panel, the inverter, power supply, and speakers (which I plan to use) I've been googling around, and it looks like I'll need a LCD controller with hdmi and av in for my purposes, so I may end up plunking down $50 or so on that, unless you have a way to convert lvds to hdmi/dvi without using a new controller board. I wish mine had the idt screen, because apparently that one already does tmds via an onboard controller? Anyhow, I look forward to your reply. Sorry to bump an old/dead thread, but I've been dying to pick someone's brain on this.

Hey man, sorry I haven't seen this.

If you have the LVDS version, then yeah, that LCD controller is what you're looking for. That's the only practical solution I've seen.

The nice thing is, if one has the TMDS version, those pins can be patched to a DVI plug directly. Then you could use an adapter for HDMI.
