tlytkine
Ok, so I have a pc with the following specifications: intel Core 2 Duo E4500 4GB DDR3 Ram AMD Radeon 6450 I currently have 10.6 installed through SnoLeo (used to have a Celeron 450) (Never figured out how to update to 10.6.8) I have always had problems with my video card as in I couldn't figure out where to find the correct kext, even though my graphics card has 512mb it shows 256mb and even with putting "Graphics Mode"="1920x1080x32" the max resolution I could get was 1400x1050. This is what shows up in System Profiler: Unknown: Chipset Model: Unknown Type: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x6779 Revision ID: 0x0000 ROM Revision: 113-B7710C-176 EFI Driver Version: 01.00.318 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1400 x 1050 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Display Connector: Now that I have a Core 2 Duo I think I can go the route of #####/##### with Mac OS X Lion. But before I begin I have a few questions. 1.Will the Core 2 Duo E4500 run the vanilla kernel and do you think I'll have any issues? 2.Are there any kexts for the 6450 that will run full resolution of 1920x1080 with QE/CI enabled? 3.Will Chimera fix my video card? Thank you I am awaiting somebodys reply.
Sysyphus
1.Will the Core 2 Duo E4500 run the vanilla kernel and do you think I'll have any issues? Yes, it might not show the correct details, i.e. it might show it is running at 3GHz or something silly, but this is just cosmetic. 2.Are there any kexts for the 6450 that will run full resolution of 1920x1080 with QE/CI enabled? 3.Will Chimera fix my video card? Your graphics card has been up support in Chimera since v1.5 ( http://macmanx86.blogspot.com/), but you will still have to edit some kexts to get QE/CI enabled.
