Stella and Genesis Plus

Stella (Atari Emulator) works fine with correct colors, but is "slow." Sound is the right pitch, but everything seems it is running at about half speed, although I am getting 60fps (845G with Quartz Supported). Genesis Plus runs at full speed with full sound, but the graphics are super messed up (dark greens and random blues and purples, I will have to post a shot in a bit). I had the same problem with graphics playing back a movie in VLC PPC binary, but it was fixed in the x86 binary on the same machine. Maybe Genesis Plus will have to be recompiled in x86 to work right.

Same Video Clip in VLC x86 Binary (same video setting too):

I may see if I can get some source code and compile in Xcode. I have never used Xcode, or even programmed anything but Visual Basic, so we will see if Steve was right about the little checkbox thing.

EDIT: On second thought, I'll lte the pros mess with Xcode. I have no clue which file to open in the source and no matter which one I open, the Compile command is grayed out in the Build menu.

i have stella built in x86...it "works" as in loads but sound is dead as well as controller input...full speed but it's not something i really care to put effort into working on

gensplus is not open source i don't believe...i had generator compiled but it just flat out doesn't work.

vlc you need to change which output mode you're using...go to prefs click the advanced check box and then click the arrow by video and change it to quartz.

For stella, I found out I was using an old version (1.2) and downloaded 1.4. Now it runs full speed with sound no problems.

Genesis Plus has source code for the DOs version, but not the mac port. I will have to try some more Genesis emulators and see if they work better under rosetta. Hopefully someone can get a working x86 Genesis emulator sometime.

As far as VLC goes, I changed the video mode to quartz for both versions and got the results pictured. Rosetta and Quartz do not seem to get along quite right on my machine.

Also, has anyone tried any of the PSX emulators like flarestorm (with software rendering)?

I just tried MacMAME, which runs pretty well for older games, but the colors are messed up like Genesis Plus. I tried Flarestorm and it opened, but it either complains that it cannot read the CD-ROM the in the CD-ROM drive or it starts to read the disk, changes the windows size and crashes. It could have something to do with rosetta or the fact I have no 3D support (only Quartz). DOSBox x86 build for Mac also runs, but is still slow (tried running Jazz Jackrabbit which runs fine in DOSBox for Windows).
