holyfield
I have a challenge, to install Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on HP Pavilion dv7. I have installed successfully 10.6.3. Later upgraded to 10.6.8, but after this upgrade I have lost High Speed USB. I don't know how to fix it, actually haven't spent time to figure out how to fix it. But I have a new challenge now. Have you already installed Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on HP Pavilion dv7? Let me know about your success. Some updates below: Installation procedure I'm using myHack.app to create usb boot disk for installation. Follow guide from sojugarden.com how to create USB installation thumb by using myHack.app. Set from bios to require password on boot (otherwise it might fail to boot from thumb drive and later mac) Add patched dsdt.aml into Extra folder on thumb drive Boot from thumb drive Install Mac OS X Lion Post Installation procedure Mount your Lion drive to some another mac and find /System/Library/CoreServices/Setup Assistant.app Click on Setup Assistant.app and Show Package Content and open file Setup Assistant.app/Contents/Info.plist Remove these lines: <string>DeviceSection</string><string>KeyboardTypeSection</string> Use myHack.app “Install Chameleon + Extra” to make your new installation bootable Boot your laptop from HD Setup your account (with password, otherwise you couldn't use sudo commands) Add extra extensions Reboot Enjoy . larrry
I have succesfully loaded Maverick on ,my old 2009 HP DV7 2170US Best laptop, I tried to replace it but the features are too good to give up. I tried several times to install OS on it but failed. Could get it to boot, just instant reboot. No out comes Maverick I figured why not. So first off: What I have working: Cpu: Duo support 100 percent no cpus=1 any more The fix was just found yesterday: here is the link it patched the mach_kernel Works very well BlueTooth: Get a cheap bluetooth adapter version I used GBU521W6: I used native kexts. remove at patched ones and replace with original. Wireless: I bought a cheap TPLINK WN725N V2, don't use there drivers they don work. I found some older driver that works smashly well. 3in1_Wlan_11n_USB_MacOS10.8_Driver_UI_2.0-2.1 Wired LAN was native can't find the link. For full video use this link, worked perfect, just follow the instructions Audio was native? that was a surprise. Camera didn't care. Only issues is it takes about 5 to six power down to finally kick in and load It will run for hours and other times it will drop with KP. But overall I am pleased. Very fast with both cores running. I used my hack to boot and install.
larrry
Hi, it me again Still trying to finish this HP DV7 2170US model So I can't get the LVDS(LCD) to work properly. Well I can but with reduced resolution: 1184X894 strange. So what happens is the HDMI works, the VGA works. The LCD screen works, I am able to change the resolution no problems. Now the issues it the screen has lots of lines going though it, like the redraw is wrong. the text and contents are blotchy, like CGA style graphics or 8 bit graphics. The other issues is the left USB ports are dead. I mean they don't work once the system, is loaded. Funny thing in my pursuant of trying to find the right combination to fix the LCD. I load a ATinit and it cause the left USB ports to load and work perfect, although the LCD was now blank, but the VGA worked fine. Strange. I used the command AtiConfig=Flicker and GraphicsEnabler=Yes AtiPorts=3 But then I was not able to reproduce it anymore. I was trying different AT4600 kext. Removing the ATinty gives me proper LCD picture but slow. So this is where I am . I am trying t figure out how to change the settings for the peronaities That will give me proper LCD video. I think these AT4650 kext are for non-mobile video cards
