stevester911 Posted January 3, 2012 Share Posted January 3, 2012 Ok everyone let's make this the official thread for the newly released ATI HD7690M. It is apparently an exact rebadge of the HD6750M and thus I am hopeful that we can get it to work in OSX. I'm thinking all it would require potentially is adding the new hardware id to an existing kext/efi string but am not too sure on this. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this card to work? You're help is very appreciated by all. It is found in the new HP ENVY 15's (3xxx series) as well as other recently released laptops. So far here's what works and what doesn't work: Using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] I get as far as "DSMOS has arrived" in verbose mode and then the screen flickers and goes black. ham4ever Posted January 3, 2012 Share Posted January 3, 2012 ATI 6750 is similar to my ATI 6650m but doesnt seems that my 6650m is working under SL 10.6.2 or 10.6.7 or even 10.6.8 does it need any special mod or kext ? stevester911 Posted January 4, 2012 Author Share Posted January 4, 2012 So the mystery deepens: Turn out the device ID of the HD7690M is 6741 which is exactly the same ID as the HD6750M found in the current macbook pros. It would appear that this card should have native support but that isn't the case at least yet. Anyone have any ideas why this card isn't displaying video properly?
