bubbly nubs Posted January 1, 2012 Share Posted January 1, 2012 I have 2 hard drives on my hackintosh system. One is a 250Gb with windows 7 installed on it, the other is 1TB that is used for mac. The 250 is on its way out I fear, and therefor would like to move the Windows install over to the TB HDD. Would I have to take OSX off as an image and repartition, or would windows cope with it on gpt? Thanks for your help in advance! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Foxic Posted January 1, 2012 Share Posted January 1, 2012 You can use a GUID/MBR Hybrid, though you'll need to use a linux live disk to re-syny the partition table after you install windows. I'm not sure if you can do this once installed, i.e. cloning partitions, but you can definitely do it when first installing so it might be worth investigating. I think the process would be something like 1, in disk utility, create another partition on your main HD, format at FAT32 2, boot windows disk, reformat the FAT32 as NTFS and clone/install windows 3, boot the windows disk and run a repair on windows 4, windows will now automatically boot so boot into the windows disk again and use diskpart from the CMD to set OS X as the active partition (so it boots to chameleon) 5, boot into linux live and re-sync the partition table.
