I am having a lot of trouble with getting a functional system with mac osx. I'll try to explain my entire situation because I have been troubleshooting for weeks now and am really stuck. I really want this to work and it would kill me to give up. My build: Motherboard: GA-Z68XP-UD3P rev 1.3 with F5 bios CPU: Intel i7 2006k sandy bridge GPU: GIGABYTE GV-R545D3-1GI Radeon HD 5450 1GB Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16gb (4 x 4gb) 240-Pin DDR3 PSU: Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W Optical Drive: SATA 12X Blu-ray Burner Hard Drives: 1tb Seagate 7200rpm for windows 7, 320gb Western Digital, 2tb not even hooked up yet Now that that is out of the way here is some more information. I already own an imac. I have a retail SL and I did purchase Lion and it is already working on my imac. The main reason I want a hackintosh is for Final Cut Studio and video editing in general. When I go off to college I can't take my imac. Also macs are simply fun to use. What I have tried so far... I tried following Tonymac's guide found here Yes I have tried getting support on that forum and for my specific mobo on that fourm but pretty much still having the same problems. I changed my bios to the recommended settings: optimized defaults, hpet mode 64-bit, and sata mode ascii. For the SL install i left only 4gb of ram in the slot furthest away from my cpu, I took out my graphics card, and the only sata ports that are being used are Sata0 and Sata1 for my disk drive and WD 320gb hard drive to install os x on. My webcam, ethernet, and all other usb devices are uplugged besides keyboard and mouse. I am using the hdmi slot built in for my monitor. Where everything goes wrong... I make it through the entire install of SL using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] and my retail SL disk. I made a custom dsdt using a dsdt editor i transferred over from a portable hard drive. I ran the updates to get to 10.6.8 and selected these options in [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], which were recommended for my board. After the install of [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] is finished and it's time to restart the problems start. If i boot from hard disk my system either becomes in an infinite boot loop or stops at the grey screen. If i try booting the os with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] my system gets a kernal panic or gets stuck at the grey screen. I can boot in safe mode but even after trying different things with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] i have no luck. I tried going to lion while in safe mode my the app store can't authorize my computer and let me sign in, w.e. for now because staying on snow leopard isn't the worst. Since I can't boot normally I thought I should add that my audio does not work in safe mode but i can connect to the internet using ethernet. I have not tried putting in my graphics card or the rest of my ram yet. I have tried using the dsdt provided on tomymac forums, usually I get a kernal panic. PookyMacMan Posted December 25, 2011 Share Posted December 25, 2011 I believe the IOPCIFamily might be the issue. Personally, your best bet might be to stick with 10.6.7. I have never been able to get 10.6.8 working (for a different reason) as of yet. Try reinstalling and only updating to 10.6.7 and see what happens. I will be researching for solutions.
