AMD Phenom II X4 955BE @ 3.8GHz 1.425v

Gigabyte GA-970A-D3

GSkill Sniper 1600MHz CL9 8GB RAM

Powercolour Radeon HD 6970 Factory OC (I know there's a kext by netkas for this)

Seagate Barracuda SATA III 500GB 7200RPM & SATA II 320GB 720RPM

ASUS Dual Layer DVD-RW

What will work OOB and what needs kexts?

6970 will not work with SL

so therefore your Journey is over allready since your AMD is Snow Leopard Only at the Moment (no Lion  supported kernel out yet)

upgrading or changing your GrafixsCard and then u should be good to go  for Snow Leopard
