GoodTofuFriday
I've been digging through the internet and these forums for a while now and can't find any useful resource for this particular card. I've seen some kext for ati 5xxx but nothing specifically for the mobility version. Looking at what #####/##### has is the desktop version of the card. Some stuff I have found seems to lack qe/ci support, which would make installing mac rather pointless on my machine. So right now I'm at a loss. Not looking for anyone to just lay out the answer (but if you have it that'd be nice). Just looking to being pointed in the right direction. Dell StudioXPS 1645 Corei7 q720 ATI mobility 5700 series Bios vA13 ***Update*** Basically just keeping reference material now, and how far along I am in the process using a retail version of 10.6.3 along with ##### 3.2.0 (snow leopard version) will then update to 10.6.7 mbp 2011 since the methods I have read support up to that with my card. install multiboot install chameleon install the boot.gz from this forum http://www.insanelym...howtopic=231768 so that my card will -maybe- at least disply through lvds, if not from what I read the Display port seems to work by default with this laptop. should this be working, even if not, to get qe/ci i will need to follow the next two topics closely. Which I am having difficulty doing since they assume so much is already known. http://www.insanelym...pic=245308&st=0 http://www.insanelym...howtopic=249642 From what I understand in these post, the information I need is EDID sensid(?) The only way to get this information (since my card is a hd5xxx) is through a ubuntu distro. questions I need to answer/ have answered what exactly is dmesg? and encoder/decoder files? What is a chameleon "trunk"? this seems to be the piece of the puzzle to put it all together, but im not sure how to fit it in with the rest of the information ive gathered http://www.insanelym...2 does the linux way of getting the information i need suffice? I tried it and could only get a edid from the file stated in one of the post. Did i do it wrong? Or just reading the file wrong? Ill attach that file incase anyone want to try and help me... I open it in notepad++ so that it is formatted correctly. Xorg.0.txt
GoodTofuFriday
Just adding some stuff I may have found. I read on another post that 10.6.7 has native support for this card? Confirm? And I also found a kext that has my cards device ID in it. Not sure if it was I need though. Uploading file as a txt Info.txt
