I just got my Samsung RV511 laptop up and running with OS X 10.6.8.
The specs of my laptop:
Intel HM55 Sandy Bridge
Intel Core i3 2.53 GHz
4 GB DDR3
Nvidia Geforce 315M 512MB
Currently I've got ethernet, QE/CI, Bluetooth, Integrated Webcam, Trackpad with 2 finger scrolling, keyboard, Sound and HDMI with Audio working.
For people who want to try it, this is how i installed it.
- Change the ACHI settings in bios to "Manual" and "Enabled", as having it on auto won't work.
- Install OSX using iBoot
- Update to 10.6.8 using the Combo Update
- Install MultiBeast, List of drivers to select below
Multi Beast:
EasyBeast Install
System Utilities
Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kext & Enablers -> Audio -> Universal -> VoodooHDA 0.2.1 (Newer version WON'T work)
Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kext & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> VoodooPS/2 Controller
Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kext & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> VoodooPS/2 Trackpad
Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kext & Enablers -> Network -> Lnx2Mac's Realtek RTL81xx Ether...
Some issues when i installed, with the fix:
After entering sleepmode, system won't boot "Still waiting for root device"
After i've entered sleep mode and forced shutdown the computer, the BIOS settings are reverted to ACHI auto. Change it back to Manual and Auto. The sleepfile is still laying somewhere not making it to boot, use the boot flag Wake=n to get it back running.
Can't boot using iBoot after the first boot.
Boot using the parameters -x -v and it should boot up fine.
Things that needs to be fixed:
However, the "tapping" of the trackpad is not working, so i need to press the button to click on a link, open a program etc.
The F5 key is not working on the keyboard, but the F12 for Dashboard and the special FN keys are indeed working.
Sleep is not working at all, the screen gets black and then im stuck.
Wireless is not working either, tried adding the IO80211Family kext but when i copy it to the extensions folder, i get an error message saying that the kexts we're not installed successfully.
I have details from CPU-ID Cpu-z from Windows 7 which should tell the PCI-ID etc. Of the Wireless card, however i can't really find the maker and model of my wireless card.
It seems like they got it with 3 different types of Wireless cards. This is from the driver download section from Samsung:
Wireless LAN,BROADCOM (Driver) (ver.5.100.82.95)
Wireless LAN,ATHEROS (Driver) (ver.9.2.0.439)
Wireless LAN,INTEL (Driver) (ver.14.1.1.3)
Is there any way to figure out the make/model from the cpu-z specs?
Any help would be really appreciated!
