YouTube and VLC

My graphics card is an EVGA GeForce 430 GT 1024MB.

My motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth P67 (REV 3.0)

I have 16GB DDR3 memory

Originally, I had only one screen resolution. Youtube crashed Safari and Firefox. Youtube videos played audio but were transparent in Google Chrome. Pictures that I opened in preview would just show up blank. VLC media player played audio but not video. QuickTime works fine.

When I installed Lion 10.7.2 (clean install, USB, uniboot), the problem with Preview was solved. Youtube no longer crashed Safari and Firefox. Instead, the videos play audio but show up black. On google Chrome, they are still transparent but play audio.

Then, I used this tutorial:

to create an EFI string and add it.

Now, I have a full selection of screen resolutions that look right.

But I still have problems with Youtube and VLC media player. In both, the audio plays but the video is absent.

Could someone please help point me in the right direction here? I tried the "official" nVidia drivers, but they won't install. They say either that I don't need them (those from the nVidia website) or that I must have a version higher than 10.6.5 (tonymacx86 version) (I obviously have a higher version than that). So, that's not an option, unless there is same way to make them work.
