Is there anybody using the Paragon NTFS 9.5 for read/write to shared drives? I was wondering if somebody could try something to see if it's a problem with my system. Specifically could somebody try downloading a file using chrome to the NTFS drive?

Whenever I try to do it Chrome gives me a download interrupted error. In addition I have my Dropbox folder on a shared NTFS drive and it appears to endlessly sync, as if it can't access the folder properly. Finder can write to the drive no problem and Firefox can download to it too.

I'm thinking Paragon NTFS 9.5 is the culprit because when I roll back to 9.01 or use the Tuxera trial version everything works without issue. The drive has no errors and I get the same issue on a brand new clean install.

Thanks for any help. I'm on Lion but I'll have to restore an old SL install before I know if that's relevant.

I actually did. I had an exFAT partition after my Lion partition and also a separate exFAT drive however about 80% of the time after being in OSX the drive and partition would be read-only in Windows (no issues in OSX) and require me to run CHKDSK to enable write access again. I did some checking and found that this happens after a Windows crash but no mention of it happening after working in OSX. It would definitely be my preferred solution but I couldn't work out what the issue was.

Advantages according to Paragon are improved stability on Lion (!) and native support for extended attributes. An update more than an upgrade. I was really just trying to stay up-to-date, assuming that the new version would be better - even if the changes weren't apparent on the surface. I have now moved over to Tuxera. I initially thought it was a more expensive option, however it's pricing is per user not per machine and also has free upgrades to any subsequent version. Overall it will work out much better value over time. As a bonus it works.

To be fair to Paragon though it could be at my end but if it's not working for me on a clean install with a freshly erased and error-checked drive (two, in fact) then I'm not going to waste a lot of my time troubleshooting, especially when their previous version worked no problem and their competitor's does as well.

Thanks for your report/ evaluation. Smart move. In case you'd ever experience unsolvable probs with Tuxera, you could always try future Paragon 9.5+/10.x again, having a license for it.
