ok just tried it and system profiler now says CI and QE is supported. the flurry screensaver does also work now, but viewing movie files is still choppy so somehow there is still no support :angel:

any clues?

Hi everyone, maybe you can help me to figure out what's wrong in my setup.

I have no mouse tearing, also no QE and CL. Before installing Callisto and Agp Cart I had CL and Qe, wuth slow screen and a lot of mouse tearing.

I can't change display modes as well, so this current mode has been achived by hacking boot.plist. I could choos between 1024x... and current one 1280 x 1024. Everything else I entered failed to load.

Here are some of my specs, maybe you can figure out, what's wrong.

What to do with 9600XT using Jas 10.4.8 on 8.8.1? Rammjet sais to use Natit drivers but those are only for x1000 series. Anyone so far managed to run 9600XT using 8.8.1? I tried Callisto drivers but I couldn't see any difference.

I have a 9600pro and Jas 10.4.8 on 8.8.1, and it worked with QE and CI with no patch. But after trying to install Callisto everything gone mad and now I can't have QE and CI no more.. I don't know where the damn installer messed up things, because I restored original kexts and it didn't solved.

I didn't want to bother trying to fix it, so i just reinstalled osx. I tried Callisto again, and the same thing happened. Did this process one more time. Same result.

What do I need to do to get it right?

All I really want to do is change my resolution to 1280x1024. Everything else works fine. If there's an easier way to do just that, that'd be great.

I can't either install Callisto with my 9600pro and 8.8.1, and no one appears to reply when I ask if it works (i have posts in 3 threads and no one cares to reply).

But, if you only want 1280x1024 resolution, you can edit the file "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" with nano:

Open terminal and type:

nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

and then modify your file to match mine:

Well I did it finally... for my 9600XT 128 Mb I used Ati9600 drivers 008 with Pacifist and decided not to overwrite any files I already have with JaS 10.4.8. !

I was thinking that basically since I already have Ati9700.kext with JaS 10.4.8. all I need is AGPgart to establish AGP (so that graphic card and display can be properly recognized) and Callisto for QE and CI.

After that I pasted iFreddie_91's solution for QE and CI and everything is now smooth!

Well I simply downloaded package ATI_9600_C008.pkg from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=31638 and installed it with Pacifist but refused to overwrite existing files. After that I rebooted and enabled QE and CI by pasting iFreddie_91's solution in ATI RADEON9700GA.plugin.

I'm running Jas 10.4.8. beta2 with semthex 8.8.1

I hope it will work for you too guys, good luck!

The above tutorial works GREAT for me (see 1st page/1st post)

I used Callisto_b006 on jas 10.4.8. DVD.

Installed clean with just intel sse2 support (i have amilo m 1425 pentium m centrino 1.8mhz), with ci/qe suport out of the box.

After trying all sorts of solution this simple one worked first shot (to the letter, followed all reebotings during the hack)

Bugs:

-my video card is on AGP (detected as PCI, don't think performane is afected..any clue ?)

-"about mac" the CPU shows just 600mhz (lowest clock step) , my former 10.4.5 shows my CPU corectly at 1.8 mhz... also dont see any impact on performance.

History:

Something similar worked perfect for 10.4.5 (dont know the distro) but with Callisto_b003fixed and without hex hack.

Downloaded and installed ATI_9600_C008_AGP.zip from here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=31638 on a iPC 10.5.6. Took long time to install but now can now choose all resolutions.
