Tips for installation of 10.6.6 and Guide for HP DV6/DV9

this guide was made for laptops

If graphics are slow after you install or update

-if you are updating Remember to remove sleepEnabler.kext! otherwise everything will go wrong!

- In case of nvidia remove nvenabler and nvinject it works out of the box if you enable graphicsEnabler

- Remove AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext

What doesn't work

  • Camera
  • Wifi (3945abg)
  • have not tested sleep

 

 

1. Download

---1.1 Snow Leopard 10.6.2 SSE2 SS3 Intel AMD by Hazard

---1.2 tools and patch http://leohazard.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7

---1.3 osx combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

 

2. Patch the DVD image and burn

 

3. Boot with the dvd

---3.1 If no boot try to boot with

cpus=1 busratio=20 arch=i386

---3.2 Go to disk utilities and partition the HDD

 

4. Install:

---4.1 Select customize and choose:

-----4.1.1 Mac OSX 10.6.2

-----4.1.2 chameleon RC5

-----4.1.3 Audio: Voodoo HDA

-----4.1.4 laptop support:voodooBattery, voodooPower, voodooPS2trackpad

-----4.1.5 system: smbiosresolver

 

5. First Boot

---5.1 Install the combo update to 10.6.6 which you downloaded

---5.2 Restart

 

6. Boot into 10.6.6

---6.1 Go to/Extra and edit com.apple.Boot.plist

---6.2 Type:

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>y</string>

---6.3 Restart

---6.4 Go into your extensions folder and delete AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext

---6.5 Open terminal

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver QuartzGLEnabled -boolean YES
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver Compositor -dict deferredUpdates 0
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver Quartz2DExtremeEnabled -boolean YES

optional

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver QuartzExtremeEnabled -boolean YES

 

7. Restart and your are done :)
