deDante Posted September 16, 2011 Share Posted September 16, 2011 hi all, just wanna share this simple installation method, it’s been 23hours since I run it and didn't find any freezing problem until now. system : - X2 555BE unlock to X4 B55 - Vaikoo VA-880G - MSI GTX460 Hawk tools : - new bios for Vaikoo VA-880G - download Nawcom ModCD - Snow Leopard Retail DVD - download ##### (I use v3.7.0) - download Mac OS X 10.6.7 Combo Update - download AboutThisMac Fix installation : - boot with Nawcom ModCD - eject Nawcom ModCD and insert Snow Leopard Retail DVD then press F5 - choose OSX86 Installer - and go to install notes : * on the installation screen open Utility -> Disk Utility * partition your hard drive to GUID (but Nawcom ModCD would allow you using MBR Partition to install Retail) * format your partition to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) * close Disk Utility wait for atleast 25minutes ‘til the installation complete, then RESTART!!! - eject Snow Leopard Retail DVD and insert Nawcom ModCD - boot with Nawcom ModCD - Start Mac OS X - complete some registrations and settings - and VOILA you get your first Mac OS X desktop, CONGRATULATION! continue to post-installation : - install Mac OS X 10.6.7 Combo Update - do not reboot - open #####, if close automatically, just reopen it - ##### 3.7.0 --> System Utilities -> Rebuild Caches--> System Utilities -> Repair Permissions --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Disk -> IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Graphics -> NVIDIA 256.02.05f01 --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> ElliotForceLegacyRTC --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> EvOreboot --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> FakeSMC --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> FakeSMC Plugins --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> IOUSBFamily Rollback --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> NullCPUPowerManagement --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Network -> Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Ethernet --> Driver & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Bootloaders -> Chameleon 2.0 RC5 - Prerelease --> Customization -> Boot Options -> 32-bit Apple Boot Screen --> Customization -> Boot Options -> Instant Menu --> Customization -> System Definitions -> Mac Pro -> MacPro 5,1 --> Customization -> Themes -> tonymacx86 Classic --> OSx86 Software -> Kext Helper b7 --> OSx86 Software -> Kext Utility - open root/Extra and copy com.apple.Boot.plist to desktop - edit Kernel on com.apple.Boot.plist see the code : <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> -> edit to legacy_kernel <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=i386</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Instant Menu</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> - open Kext Utility and type your password - REBOOT # UPDATE 1 - edit AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext for lower Cinebench Score problem, and IMHO also solve freezing problem, add your graphic device id to info.plist : <key>MacPro5,1</key> <dict> <key>Vendor10deDevice0e22</key> <dict> <key>Heuristic</key> <dict> <key>ID</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>IdleInterval</key> <integer>250</integer> <key>SensorOption</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>SensorSampleRate</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>TargetCount</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>Threshold_High</key> <array> <integer>87</integer> <integer>87</integer> <integer>87</integer> <integer>100</integer> </array> <key>Threshold_Low</key> <array> <integer>0</integer> <integer>87</integer> <integer>87</integer> <integer>87</integer> </array> </dict> <key>LogControl</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>control-id</key> <integer>18</integer> </dict> <key>Vendor10deDevice0e22</key> <dict> <key>Heuristic</key> <dict> <key>ID</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>IdleInterval</key> <integer>250</integer> <key>SensorOption</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>SensorSampleRate</key> <integer>4</integer> <key>TargetCount</key> <integer>5</integer> <key>Threshold_High</key> <array> <integer>93</integer> <integer>93</integer> <integer>93</integer> <integer>100</integer> </array> <key>Threshold_Low</key> <array> <integer>0</integer> <integer>97</integer> <integer>97</integer> <integer>97</integer> </array> </dict> <key>LogControl</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>control-id</key> <integer>18</integer> </dict> <key>default-control-id</key> <integer>18</integer> </dict> I use smbios MacPro 5,1 but some people suggest the better smbios for fermi is MacPro 3,1 CMIIW [RESERVED] for update benchmark result Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
