GliTCH82
Moderators, I also posted this in the parent forum, so please remove the one which doesn't fit the category it was posted in. In case this is pertinent, I have legacy USB enabled in my BIOS options. Some time ago I bought a Targus bluetooth adapter so I could use my Magic mouse in OS X. One day my wired aluminum keyboard stopped working, so I replaced it with an Apple wireless aluminum keyboard. At some point I discovered my wireless keyboard worked in the Chameleon menu, whereas my wired keyboard had not, and I was all smiles. Up until last week, I had OS X 10.6.8 and Windows 7 installed on separate hard drives. Windows 7 on a 2 TB MBR drive, and OS X on a 320 GB GUID drive. I decided to upgrade to OS X Lion, and I noted that both keyboard and mouse worked fine in the OS X installer. I upgraded Chameleon, and having researched Chameleon's manual installation, I decided to properly migrate my Extra folder and Chameleon's partition booter to my EFI partition. During testing, I was once again pleasantly surprised to find out that both keyboard and mouse worked in Windows 7 without having to re-pair my devices. I attributed this to my awesome Targus bluetooth adapter. In 3 years of using Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro and Mac mini, I always found that I had to constantly re-pair bluetooth devices when switching OSes. This was especially true while in Windows Vista/7 installers on the Mac mini, when I sadly realized I had to dig in some closet to break out an old wired keyboard and mouse to complete the installation. Anyway, back to my Hackintosh. With my confidence heightened even more, I decided to consolidate both Windows 7 and OS X onto my single 2 TB MBR drive. In order to do this, I had to use several rescue CDs in order to migrate and re-arrange partitions. My mind was completely blown when I realized that not only did my wireless keyboard and mouse work in various bootable utilities such as Paragon's HD Manager 2011, but they also worked in the Windows 7 installer which has never ever happened in my history of experimenting with bluetooth devices. Ever. Once again, I attributed this to my awesome Targus adapter, and possibly Apple's devices while paired with this specific adapter. Then at some point I had to boot into Parted Magic, which is Linux based. This wasn't the first Linux based utility I had to use, so I was surprised when both keyboard and mouse didn't respond. Not phased by this, I reasoned that this could possibly be the result of some strange enumeration of my bluetooth adapter by that Linux OS. So, while in Parted Magic, I once again used a wired keyboard and mouse. Then I was completely baffled when, following that incident, my Magic mouse never worked again in those bootable utilities or Windows 7's installer. Now that the dust has settled and I successfully migrated everything to a single hard drive, my wireless keyboard is reliable once again, but I'm stuck with the problem of having to re-pair my Magic mouse when switching OSes, and having it not work at all in various boot utilities and rescue CDs.
