enjoyfebruary
Here are my specs: MSI x58m i7-950 24Gb DDR3 1333 Radeon HD 5670 I've got a couple of apps that keep crashing. I don't really know what I'm looking for in the error report so I was hoping you guys could help me out. It looks like both of the apps are crashing in the same way. TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
This issue is directly related to your AMD card because it has been known for quite sometime. If I recall though, the user ^Andy^ had a fix posted in his thread in the ATI section of the forum (I don't remember which page exactly it was on but you could browse through till you find it). Good luck.

MTWomg
I have GraphicsEnabler in my boot.plist. Is that it? But these two apps still crash for me. Is it set to "Yes"? If so, Chameleon doesn't support your card. Hardcode the GFX card into your DSDT, don't ask me how. It's not just those two apps. Source engine (TF2, etc) steam games won't work. HoN won't work. LoL won't work, along with all other Cider games.

Yes, org.chameleon.boot.plist has this: <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> If it doesn't support the card, how is everything working smoothly, even my 30" Cinema display works fine at its native resolution. I mean, I don't understand why you say its 'not supported' ? Erm... How? I'd really appreciate any help. I tried the auto-patcher but it gives some error. Currently I'm using the DSDT from tonyosx86 database for my mono (Z68XP-UD3R-B3). Many thanks!

Apple added something of an injector as of 10.6.7. It's loading the default ATI framebuffer, not the proper one. You aren't getting full performance (though you probably can't notice as you can't play any real games) and some apps won't launch. Do this, in terminal: ioreg | grep ATY it's going to popout the framebuffer for the X1900. Here's what it looks like on my card (Note: Your framebuffer is probably different. I have a 5770, it's framebuffer is Vervet) I manually edited it in for my card, but that's quite the thing to explain. Try using Nawcom's ATY_Init. Just his ATY, not some other third-party kext. No DSDT edit required, and it probably supports your card.

Now I should turn off GraphicsEnabler in boot.plist and place this new next in Macintosh/Extra/Extensions folder? Many thanks!!

MTWomg
Oh, just did that, restarted and ran the same command in Terminal, and the output it the same as before. Hmm...what am I doing wrong? It's possible that no injector supports your specific varient of that card. The easy way out is to exchange that card for a different (preferably Gigabyte, best hackintosh compatibility as far as ATI goes) card. The hard way is to learn how hardcode the card in the DSDT. Both options suck.

As much as I hate tonycrap, this should give you a rough idea of what we are talking about (not that it's applicable for you, as you are ATI) http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/01/adv...a-graphics.html
ibr4him
Okay, so I use this and the apps don't crash anymore, DVD player opens fine. The geekbench score hasn't improved, intact its gone down 200+ points since I last checked but thats okay I think.

I can pay someone $15 for doing the DSDTs though, and it'll also be useful for everyone else using the same card.

Telling you "what to edit" is like asking me how to program. Dump your IOregistry, hard code the values needed into the DSDT. Or sell your old card and buy one that is supported. MTWomg
Not certain. Even if it is, it varies widely between card to card. Get the Gigabyte one.
aol
Found this thread and wondered if anyone has any updates. I have this exact issue: DVD player crashes on launch, and some steam (source) games won't run with the same error in the log. I have a 6850 that I just bought maybe 3 months ago, so I'd rather not replace it. I'm using Kakewalk, not sure where it got the DSDT from. GraphicsEnabler=yes in my plist. Any update to this issue? If I understand correctly OS X is not determining the correct framebuffer to use? Solutions seem to come from several directions including using aty_init, manually editing your DSDT, turning off GraphicsEnabler, and combinations of the above. Thanks.
