I've tested your HDEF fix for ALC889 on my system. Results: Platform: Mac OS X 10.7.2/Chameleon-2.0-RC5-r1229 Status: Working Required Kexts: AppleHDA from 10.6.2 (/S/L/E) and ALC8xxHDA in (/E/E) Kext successfully loaded.
