Hi verdant, I have a good news; :jester:

On my nForce PC I've able to boot from iATKOS L2 DVD & go to the installation process by using USB to IDE Converter Cable (without any CD/DVD Boot). Sounds good, but the problem is I can't see my HDD on Disk Utility (I have 3 Disks connected to the PC; 30 GB PATA HDD set as Primary Slave, and 2x320 GB SATA HDD).

Do U have any CD/DVD Boot that I can use for detecting my HDD for iATKOS L2? Please.., help me to fix this problem. :(

Thanks for u're guide verdant.

Hi badruzeus,

As I said before, your 630i MOBO may be fully AHCI compliant and also have a crippled BIOS..........if fully AHCI compliant, OS X cannot use AppleNForceATA.kext installed on your HDD OS X volume to "see" your HDDs..........and if the BIOS is crippled, then like users of Aspire M series desktops such as M3641, M564, you may be forced to run OS X from an external USB HDD.......

Also, most distros are designed around Intel chipset MOBOs not nForce chipset MOBOs.....you should follow a "manual route" to installing OS X......and if using an AppleNForceATA.kext in /Extra/Extensions/, or in /System/Library/Extensions/, does not work for you, then focus on these two topics:

Krishna21

http://www.insanelym...pic=219837&st=0

iBifteki

http://www.insanelym...howtopic=257546

When buying a standard PC such as a Lenovo ThinkCentre PC, remember they are generally designed around the corporate user who will be using Windows......

If you want to use OS X on a PC, start from the MOBO specification using IM as your "best" MOBO for OSx86 guide......focus on getting one with an Intel CPU MOBO whose Intel chipsets (i.e. Southbridge and Northbridge) are supported well by OS X........

If you do get an Intel CPU and Intel chipset MOBO, then my guide is no longer the best place for you to get help.........

My IM topics are focussed on OS X Retail installation using a USB or a boot CD/DVD installer rather than DVD distro installers such as iATKOS.....

Thanks for your guide verdant... I am considering on use A Mac OS X Retail DVD or DVD Image and follow yours or iBifteki guide for OS X installation. :wink2:

BTW, now I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 directly from my SATA HDD connected using USB to IDE Converter Cable. And as you've said before that nForce 630i is AHCI Compliant, so... we all know what would happened if it connected via IDE/SATA Cable for Boot Volume. :hammer:

OK, now I'm confusing why My ALC888 SoundCard doesn't work and I got not optimal graphic performance...!? While, my GeForce 7050 / nForce 620i has 256 MB RAM...? :weight_lift: Were there any mistake I choose during "Customize"-ing section (I choose all of Realtek ALC888, AppleHDA & VoodooHDA on Sound section)?

Please help me fix this problem, I wanna learn more about OSX... :thumbsup_anim:

1. Graphics Performance

OS X does not supported integrated shared RAM graphics pre-9000 series......nVidia GeForce 7050 uses shared memory.......it is not supported by OS X, so you cannot get full CI/QE with it........

Run in basic VESA mode with your native display resolution set in com.apple.Boot.plist, by doing as follows:

After rebooting by typing -s at the boot: prompt and waiting for the prompt

:/ root# to appear, type each of the following lines, followed by Enter and then waiting for :/ root# to re-appear:

mount -uw /
cd /System/Library/Extensions
mv GeForce.kext GeForce.kext.orig
mv NVDAResman.kext NVDAResman.kext.orig
mv NVDANV50Hal.kext NVDANV50Hal.kext.orig
mv NVDANV40Hal.kext NVDANV40Hal.kext.orig
mv NVDANV30Hal.kext NVDANV30Hal.kext.orig
ls -l
exit

"logout" will then appear on screen followed by "Jettisoning kernel linker" and the rest of the verbose booting screen, resulting in successful booting into the OS X Welcome screen and music.....

The System Profiler shows under Graphics/Displays, 1024x768 resolution 32-bit Color depth and 32MB VRAM with Software Driven CI and QE Not Supported, and against Kernel Extension Info: No kext loaded

Modify the com.apple.Boot.plist file as follows:

1. Go to the Terminal, and at the $ prompt, type in

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

2. Enter your password when requested. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor within the Terminal window.

3. Type in (without any spaces anywhere except where there are spaces)

"Graphics Mode"="1280x1080x32@60" BUT as I said using your display resolution.....

between <string> and </string> under <key>Kernel Flags</key>.

4. Move the cursor the Terminal window down until it no longer moves, then press Ctrl O and then Enter, to save the modified com.apple.Boot.plist file.

5. Press Ctrl X to Exit and type

and install no nVidia injector kext, or EFI graphics string, and do not set Chameleon bootloader GraphicsEnabler to Yes.....

Or, get an nVidia graphics card supported by OS X.....

2. Audio with ALC888

Choose Realtek ALC888 and AppleHDA

Hi verdant, many thanks for your guides. I've followed your guides and now I got my ALC888 Sound worked well. :thumbsup_anim:

But, the problem now, I got my Graphics performance running on more & more slowly than before. At first time I've boot the OSX I saw on About This Mac - Display Info that my shared graphics has 256 MB VRAM. Suddenly, It became just 3 MB VRAM and now my OSX running like "a walking baby..."

(Once again... :wink2: ) Plz, help me fixing this problem..!? Thanks for your guides...

As I said OS X does not support your 7050 onboard integrated GPU using shared MOBO RAM and so you will not be able set up Core Image and Quartz Extreme functionality.......

Have you checked in your BIOS to see how much RAM is allocated to video.....?

My recommendation is to get a PCI-e graphics card that is supported by OS X.

Yeah, I think so. I got to upgrade my Graphics Card to a new PCI-E one. :|

(But, I don't know after my Graphics was upgraded is my nForce still supported by OS X Lion or not, the PATA/SATA HDD + DVD..., we will see next time, OK? Then, I would like to ask your guides again.. :thumbsup_anim: ).

You're the best verdant, so plz help me (at later time I think). For now, I'm focusing on learn and learn more about OSX before I use the PC for production purpose, especially for Graphic Design. This is why, I have obsession to installing this OSX on my PC beside Windows 7 & Ubuntu Linux. As other said that Mac OS X is amazing OS ever... :withstupid:

That is.., many thanks to you for your cool guides verdant... the Hardwares is still under contruction (for upgrading of course...) I will back to your topic as soon as possible, Tata for now.. :king:

I believe it is OK with Snow Leopard (according to Krishna21 for example) but some users have reported some problems with their 8400GS and OS X Lion............use the IM search function and/or Google to check on any graphics card, e.g. 8400GS that you are interested in, to see how easy it is to get it working 100% with CI/QE etc. in OS X Lion......

Did you install the netkas 10.6/Lion bootloader on your OS X HDD volume from post #1?

Also, see post by akimoa here.....google for the PC efi 10.7 boot file from netkas or use this one http://cl.ly/3x0p0B041H3g3c2O3p2b

You will need a working bootloader on the OS X volume HDD in order to boot from it once OS X is installed.

Have you tried the akimao posted PC_EFI boot file on a USB flash drive installer yet?

If you still have no joy, then try this version of fakesmc.kext posted by rubahgeni that he extracted from ##### 3.8.0, as it sorted the launchctl.c error for him allowing him to boot the Lion installer......

okay so i make a new USB session^^

changed the boot file in the root directory and tested all USB Slots, with one of it it works... Lion is installed^^

go back to SL and followed your guide, but now i'm stuck again:

fr1051a35ccd5jpg.jpg

some things i must say:

by default the bootloader wants to boot Snow Leo... maybe it is because SL and Lion are on the same Volume but diffrent partition and SL is the first partition...

i installed PC EFI 10.6 again on the Lion Partition but nothing changed

now i test it with the boot file from 10.7...i edit this post when i see Results^^

EDIT:

now change...

i think its still the bootloader from my SL partition and so the wrong boot files are used...but if i change the boot file on my SL can i boot back into it??

I hope either the boot file or the FakeSMC.kext or both together work for you.....if not, it is not immediately obvious what else you could try......be sure to sort out the ownership and permissions for the USB flash drive installer and the target OS X HDD volume.......

my partition is active...but same as before, it boot's the loader from my snow leo partition...

any idea how to change this? i dont want to delete my SL yet because i often need to boot in there

maybe this bring me to some errors:

- Sound works(no error^^, i done it with Mulitbeast ( HDAEnabler, Rollback & kext for ALC888)

- Settings show 2 monitors ( i have two ) but the second is black, nothing to see, buts its there because i can go with my mouse on it ( but i cant see anything^^)

- nForceLan.kext dont work (cant load it (i have it placed in /E/E and in /S/L/E but dont work...)

See my Snow Leopard guide Part I.........you may be able to adapt the approach I have used there, so that it works for Snow Leopard and Lion......

With two monitors, you need to sort out the NVCAP values........try NVEnabler 64bit and see Project OS X Forums topic on NVEnabler.......

You need to extract 0.64.5 nForceLAN.kext from the installer package using Pacifist and install it in /S/L/E/, setting ownership and permissions correctly.....

sry cant find something in your SL post, maybe I read it to fast^^

NVEnabler for ATI?? Does this work??

from which package I have to extract it? I have this in /S/L/E but it doestn load, if i load it manuelly there cames an error, that the kext doesnt work

other question:

my bootloader is on my SL partition, so if I boot into Lion which boot org.chameleon.Boot.plist is used? or which mach_kernel is used??

EDIT: nForceLan seems to work: I created my mkext and now i write from Lion:-) only Problem now is ATI Card and the boot Problem

Remove NVEnabler.kext and get your ATI card running just one monitor first with full CI/QE...........see here but also google search for netkas information on ATI graphics cards........

Try using rd=diskXsY in your Boot.plist files in SL and OS X Lion as follows:

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>rd=diskXsY</string>

where the value for X in rd=diskXsY is dependent on the number of storage/media read/write devices connected to the MOBO and Y on the number of volumes that the storage device has been partitioned into; X starts from 0 and Y starts from 1.

Y starts from 1 because 0 is the Master Boot Record (MBR), which contains the Partition Table for the storage device and a small amount of executable code for the boot start. The location is always the first sector on the storage device.

Thus, with a GPT partitioned storage device, the partition table information is stored in the GPT header, but to maintain compatibility with theMBR partition scheme, GPT retains the MBR entry as the first sector on the storage device.

For example, the first volume on the first internal HDD will have the Disk Identifier of disk0s1, while the second volume will be disk0s2 and so on.

rd=diskXsY tells Darwin to boot from a certain partition specified in BSD format.

no NVEnabler there, but i look for this later

i tested it with this bootflag, but in SL I get still waiting for root device and in Lion KernelPanic (IntelCpu...)

but what i will do next (after today, because to night I need my SL to watch movies) is to format the whole volume, make 2 partions:

1) Lion

2) SnowLeaopard ( and later, if Lion works correlty, Windows 7)

(i have to do this on 1 Volume, becuase my other volumes are toooooo slow^^)

because maybe then it works better with it, and SnowLeopard I can install in Minutes without Problems with the boot dvd from Hazard

and the USB installer works also great (thanks again^^)

when i've done this i'll come back how it works

(at this time, some thing goes wrong, for example i cant start TrueCrypt...and so on^^let's make it new, tomorrow^^)

"Happy New Year" & nice to meet U again verdant... :wink2:

I've successfully installed MacOSX Lion 10.7.2 on my nForce PC using External USB 2.0 DVD Drive and my SATA-HDD connected to USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Cable.

Now, my already installed OSX boot & run directly from USB and almost all my hardwares (ALC888 Sound, GraphicCard, Monitor, USB Ports & Ethernet) work fine. (except my built-in CardReader doesn't work, but I don't need it frequently, any suggestion..!?)

Recently, I've tried some methods on How to enabling CI/QE for my new nVIDIA GeForce 8400GS @512 MB GraphicCard. Now, it works fine on my System with "Graphic Enabler=Yes", modified NVDANV50Hal.kext and NVEnabler64.kext installed using Kext Utility. I can play some HD Videos & RPG Games with no graphic problem and Translucent Menu Bar is Enabled.

(Although, it's not very important for me, since my GraphicCard works fine...)

But, I got "NVEnabler :: Probe fails" errror message when my System boot, and on my Display Preferences I found a wrong info with "Unknown nVidia card 512 MB graphics".

Would U like to help me solve this problem..!? :thumbsup_anim:

Thanks for u'r guide.

USB cardreaders can be and are often a problem........but see here......

As for your graphics,

1. Ignore 'NVEnabler :: Probe Fails' messages at bootup

2. Use either NVEnabler64.kext alone or Graphics Enabler = Yes in Boot.plist file but not both together......
