peterson314
I had this exact same thing happen today. Fortunately, I had created a copy of my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner before I tried to use OSX86Tools to change my CPU type. What I did to fix it was to copy the file loginwindow from System/Library/CoreServices of the backup to my Desktop. I then right clicked, and selected Show Package Contents. I changed the Permissions on the Contents File (Right Click, Get Info, Click Lock in bottom right, enter password, click sharing and permissions, change "everyone" to Read and Write, Click Sprocket at bottem, select "Apply to enclosed Items, Click Ok. I then repeated the process on the same file in my CoreServices folder. I was then able to drag and drop the Contents file over from the backup. I logged out and back in, and My About This Mac worked again. I tried copying the whole loginwindow.app and pasting in, but it wouldn't let me because it is a running process. Wouldn't even let me force quit it in Activity Monitor. I have attached my "Contents" Folder. Maybe it will work for you. I am running 10.7 btw.
