Right,

I'm planning to buy Acer Aspire AS5742G-486G64Mnkk Notebook, and I was wondering how it will do with Mac OSx Snow Leopard, or possibly even Lion.

If you are unwilling to spend time working it out, and I respect that, which resources do I use to check its compatibility?!

Link (Acer Website): http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/model/LX.RB902.182

Basic Specs:

Intel Core i5-480M processor (2.66GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz - 3MB L3 cache) - 64 bit
6GB DDR3 RAM
640GB Hard Drive
1GB NVIDIA G FORCE GT540M
Gigabit Ethernet
IEEE 802.11n
DVD-RAM/±R/±RW
Multi-gesture touchpad
3 USB 2.0 ports

Sorry for not providing detailed (Hardware Specific) specs, I can't find them anywhere, And as I don't actually have the device yet, I can't check with hardware detecting programs.

The Link to the website is a bit more in depth.

So yeah, thats about it:

- Will it work?

- How can I check?

Not Urgent, I was just wondering..

Thanks,

th3ant

PS: Sorry if I have done some things wrong with the post, or put this in the wrong catergory, this is my first post to a new forum to me.

EDIT:

Found another link, Seems to be fairly in depth for hardware specs:

So not at all? Not even with a bit of tinkering and a couple of kexts from here there everywhere..?

Surely it's possible, and I think I'm going to stick with that notebook anyway because of its awesome value for money (I found a good deal)...

A quick look on the acer driver support site, for your type of laptop. Showed drivers for the GT540M as well as for the Intel HD3000. So your laptop is using the optimus technologie.

When u try to install the nvidia drivers, it will only see your intel HD3000.

But now it is possible to get full QE/CI support in Lion, using the intel HD3000.

You can find it here http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=26370

keep me posted about your progress, good ?

Thanks allot and good luck !

Ahh.. right..

And I will keep you informed.. but I will be getting the notebook in December, and it will probably be late January before I get to this stage..

I still need to sort out all the other kexts I need, and what I'm booting OSx from and.... you get the idea. I'm just starting early due to boredness.
