I got the EP45-UD3P motherboard setup that lifehacker built for a hackintosh. I have seen several guides to install 10.7, seemingly from scratch, but nothing to upgrade to 10.7 from 10.6. Is there a way for me to upgrade?

Hey i have the same setup as you. I am thinking of upgrading to Lion myself and I think the easiest route is to use kakewalk 4.0

this guide ^^^ is old but u can just use the new version of kakwalk.

usually u can download 4.0 from www.kakewalk.se but i think the site is down right now. I can't access it anyway.

as far as upgrading to 10.7 and keeping all your programs and data etc i think u hav to make a time machine backup as suggested by this helpful guide

Use Kakewalk method. Create a Kakewalked disk or usb flash disk. Boot with it to start lion installer. When it asked for your new macintosh hard disk to install lion, choose ur previous snow 10.6.8 hard disk and let it go. Don't worry. Your files will be safe! After installation again boot with Kakewalk disk and this time choose your mac disk. After booting lion you need to install Kakewalk on your drive.

Make sure you have 10.6.8 installed. Im not sure but i think you have too install a 600KB update with Software Update to make your application folder secure. I can't remember exact name, but it was something like assistance ... and bellow 600KB. Install this update and here you go!

I have EP45-UD3R that is actually same as yours. So don't be worry about anything!

Good luck!

You just need to make a usb install and boot into it. Run the install and pick the drive you have your current install located and install Lion over that it will upgrade that leaving all your files and programs in place. Before the upgrade install the new Chameleon or after the upgrade use the usb stick to boot and then install the new Chameleon on your boot drive.

The Lion install will break sound like the 10.6.8 upgrade did. You will have to replace the AppleHDA.kext. You may also have a problem waking from sleep, waking could reset you bios to defaults, there is a script you can run to repair AppleRTC.kext or use a older one from 10.6.7
