smolniy
I was trying to fix FireWire and took the wrong advise - removed HPET.kext. Kernel panic was the response and comp didn't boot unless in safeboot. I've took system harddrive into USB-pocket and restored the file manually. After that I've followed another advice which was to use Repair Disk Permission in DiskUtility but it didn't work showing an error message. But it turned out that in SafeBoot mode it works ok. I've spent a couple of days trying to fix that and tried to run Repair in SafeBoot like by accident. Well, hope that this post may save someones time.
