ATI4650HD mobility 1GB ( device ID 9480 ) , Toshiba L500 ( core2duo , Phoenix BIOS ) LVDS screen 15,6 inch WARNING -- THIS IS for LION EXPERIMENTAL :: NO QE/CI/OPENGL ACCELERATION YET !! ......... kexts removed to avoid confusion with GM kexts topic which QE/CI now works ...... follow link above. Hexedit was done ( like in SL ) with ATI4600controller binary this way ( hexFiend.app used ) : searched for default entries of Shrike FB all instances of LVDS default 02 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 09 01 00 00 02 01 00 03 changed to 02 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 09 01 00 00 12 00 00 07 all instances of VGA default 02 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 09 01 00 00 20 01 02 02 changed to 10 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 10 01 06 all instances of HDMI default 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 10 00 01 01 changed to 00 08 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 20 01 02 01 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I swear I have not copied your idea, but yesterday I edited netkas ATY_INIT for the 10.6.x way. I limited the cards to device ID 9480 and changed netkas "motmot" FB overall to Shrike; and tried without GraphicsEnabler and it was working instantly. So yes we dont't need a special patched booter anymore I would say. I have updated my 10.6.8 thread so that people can use ATY:Init instead of boot solution. This is far more flexible and future-ready. I tried to force SL to load the Lion kexts ( various from DP3,DP4 and GM ) , but it had the same effects like in Lion ( regardless of aty_init or booter with GE=yes ) : no QE/CI .. sometimes even black screen or garbage on LVDS. now the question is : can SL load Lions kexts ? ( it does, but not ATIRADEONX2000.kext from LION , whenever it tries to the screen dies or goes mad ). I have a feeling that the shrike framebuffer might be the problem in Lion. Maybe the hexedit entries in ATI4600controller.kext have changed positions ? ( I patched the tables like in SL kexts because the values were the same ( 4x lines overall of the LVDS sections found and replaced ). Maybe we need pergrine as FB. If so, it will be long .. I only know shrike. Ans shrike works in SL like a charme. So I really dont know what Apple has done there.. Thanks for your input, I will read your texts .. mybe I get a new idea. I learned alone the past 2 days more then in all the months .. thats the bonus of hacking.. you gain massive knowledge. I am sure sooner or later Lion problem is solved. For SL I needed to wait until 10.6.6 came out.. before I had no way of using QE/CI and there fore I tried it with 10.5.8 .. First 6 months I thought my Laptop would never run fully enabled OSX, now it does and it does perfectly. So -- time and patience is really needed.
