Install customization - blank

During Lion install, when you click the "Customize" button, there are no packages to select or deselect. I'm using the USB boot method where you restore base system.dmg then copy the Packages directory from the Install ESD.

Is anybody else experiencing this? It's not a huge deal breaker. I'm just wondering in case I did something wrong.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, but I think that since there is just a base package, and nothing else, like Rosetta, since it was removed, there is no reason to put customizations in there. I have a feeling they will remove the 'Customize' button in the final release. I may be wrong, as this is just my opinion.

i installed a few minutes ago, i had a checked and greyed out essential (or was it base) package, then an optional server checkbox.

Hmmm ok. I don't even have a greyed out base package. No server option either. How exactly did you install yours?

I think you are just being so "smarty" pants, bud!. If you are installing a Lion GM, you will see a blank Customize window but if you are installing an old preview of OS X then "Yes", you'll see server checkbox. If you installed a OS X Lion preview with a server package, then you cannot install the OS X Lion GM; YOU NEED TO GET IT at the "AppStore" when OS X Lion is launch sometime this month. I know because I can't install the OS X Lion GM ( client) on my system.

If the customize window is supposed to be blank for the GM, how is a person supposed to install printer drivers, extra languages and X11? I did manage to install X11 by running the pkg for it in the packages folder.

Because all the application drivers, localization (Languages), X11, you've mentioned are in the Basesytem and Essential packages. If you are not sure what you're talking about and if you're sure then that is not the OS X Lion GM (11A511) version that was in the Apple Developer distribution otherwise you have something that wasn't. Are you a registered Mac Developer?

I believe I have just found a bug. It could be caused by the way we are installing lion (restore base system.dmg, etc...). Would someone be willing to test this on a legit mac and post results?

Click the customize button. Notice how it is blank. Close that windows then try to install lion. You'll get an error about server software missing. From what I've read, the server software will be available as a separate download. Why is the installer looking for in the installation media?
