How to check what causes the crash

Hi,

The Snow Leopard running fine for few days, but yesterday it start to give me crash randomly, like 5 crash in 1 hour. I did permission check and repair in disk utility, permission repair, clear cache, touch on osx86 tools, all went well. But it still randomly crash (the screen dim out and ask me to press power button to shut down).

How can I check what causes the crash that often? I left it overnight without running any apps and is fine, but when I'm doing something like chatting in Adium, or writing something in Smultron, it crash, but all those work fine back then.

Thanks

Open up Console.app, and check the kernel.log.
