Lion+P45-UD3LR Sleep=Reboot

Hey,

This problem is unrelated to the CMOS reset on sleep.

When I sleep my system, P45-UD3LR, and try to wake it again, it reboots. Sleep worked 100% fine in Snow Leopard.

Anyone with related problems? Anyone found a fix?

It doesn't matter if I have an Nvidia or ATI card installed.

Try to replace AppleRTC in Lion with this from SL 10.6.8, or use AppleRTC patch - there is post about that ..

For me (HD4670) both methods just prevent CMOS reset... but after wake from sleep I receive just Black Screen .. Try for yourself, can be lucky .. :P

I guess that's expected, as the AppleRTC fix is only meant to fix the CMOS reset.

Yup.. I still can`t find explain what is wrong with Lion .. On my config absolutely everything work with one DSDT and FakeSMC.. The only thing is that with wake up after sleep.. I haven`t got CMOS reset after paching, but as you say .. can`t wake properly.. :P

In SL don`t have any problem ..

I have similar mobo. Don't have this issue, though.

Maybe if we compare our configs you can figure that out?

So your sleep works fine in Lion?

What DSDT do you use?

You have EP45T-UD3LR, there might be differences?

The only difference is in memory type: your uses DDR2 and mine uses DDR3. The rest seems identical.

I don't think this might pose much of a problem. ;)

And MaLdon is absolutely right in suggesting to use his Auto-patcher tool.

Worked flawless (@least 4 me  )

Using the DSDT patcher in Mac OS, I get errors. Maybe it's because I already have a DSDT installed?

Anyway, using the patcher in Windows worked fine. So I'm using a DSDT created by that one.

However, that still did not fix the sleep problem. When trying to wake the system it goes into a cycle where it will turn on, turn off, on again etc all with black screen. until I hold down the power button to reset it.

I do have "Start up automatically after power failure" checked.

Here's what the auto patcher tells me, btw:

[Line 171 type Error message Object does not exist (OSTP)]

[Line 176 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.PX40.AG3E)]

Charmeleon is rev 899, my network drivers are lnx2mac, and sound is AppleHDA/HDAenabler. Everything worked for 10.6.8.

Isn't it wierd that autopatcher isn't working for me? But should it make a difference if the Windows version does work?

I've found the problem, it seems. It could be something that needed a change in the DSDT regarding the power button?

If I wake my computer with the power button, Lion will wake with the monitor turned off.

If I touch the keyboard or mouse afterwards, the screen will turn on and stay awake.

If I do not touch the keyboard or mouse, the screen will stay turned off, and after a few seconds the system will reenter sleep.

So it seems like sleep is working and wake is working, but the behavior seems quite weird. Why does the system go to sleep again if I do not touch the keyboard or mouse within 5 sec of waking it? And why doesn't the monitor turn on?

For me Auto-patcher worked in OS X with no probs.

Pls, post your Chameleon and fakeSMC versions. What drivers are you using for network and sound?

Any additional hardware installed?

Does wake by power button or by LAN work for you?

Something very strange :D

After RTC patch as I say, the CMOS reset is gone.. I get BlackScreen after sleep (and have to restart until now..)..

I decide to wait more time to see what will happen with the "BlackScreen" .. and voila .. :).. after 30-40 seconds the system wakes up.. :D Untill now I think that "not response" .. So my advice for those one with BlackScreen is wait about a minute .. :)

What should be the reason for so long wake up in Lion GM?

PP: ..... but crappy graphics after update.. Frames in Cinebench 11.5 drops to 8, before sleep/wake was 21.. ;)

  • 6 months later...

i have the exactly same problem on ga-ep45-UD3L

i had the exactly same errors when compiling dsdt under mac,

it worked perfectly on windows,

when i use the resulting dsdt.aml in EXTRA folder,

the computer sounds like its sleeping for a millisecond, then instantly wakes up,

console shows my usb mouse+keyboard as reason

(yes i ticked all boxes in energy save preferences)

it doesnt matter wether i push the power button or use the apple menu option for sleep

but interesting is:

when i disconnect my usb mouse+keyboard and push power button,

the system seems to sleep,

but when i want to wake it again by power button it just boots up,

as if it has been shutdown instead of sleeping

(when i try to wake it by connected mouse+keyboard again, nothing happens)

i dont know what to try,

any ideas?

already applied the RTC patch, but that only stops cmos from resetting

thats a bad answer rayap,

probably something is wrong yeah, else it would be working, thats right aha,

i tried several dsdts for ds3l as well as ud3l and i also did 2 myself with dsdtfixer and autopatcher

i always get the problem with booting instead of wakeup,

thats how it ends up,

i am looking for people who know how they solved exactly that behaviour - anyone?

maybe wrong bios settings? azalia and lan disabled, hpet in 64 bit mode, sata mode is ahci and sata ports 0-3 in native mode
