TimmyK.
Hello, I have made my Dell D620 into a Hackintosh, but WiFi didn't work with the bundled card. So I bought a Broadcom WiFi card, but it still says, "No AirPort card installed". So is there a driver or something or was it the wrong card? Please help me, I paid $4 for that card and don't want it to go to waste!
LatinMcG
device id ? 4315 ?? add to both broadcom kexts in io80211family.kext the info.plist has 4312 skips to 4318 .. missing 4315. u can get a dsdt edit to make it think its 4312 device id. TimmyK.
It's a 4311. But can you please use proper English? I can't understand the rest of your reply.

TimmyK.
I'm sorry if I offended you, I didn't know English was not your first language (it annoys me when native English speakers on the internet are too lazy to write properly, and I falsely assumed that you were one of them). But yes, I would love to get a new laptop but a don't have the money. So is there a driver for the BCM4311 for Hackintosh?

TimmyK.
OK, thanks! I'm on Ubuntu at the moment, so I'll give it a shot the next time I boot up OS X (it is version 10.6.7). I downloaded and extracted the file (myHack_lspci_Installer_1.0.mpkg). However, I don't see what to do now; there is no .exe or .dmg or any other executable files in the folder. Of course, I am on Linux now so maybe it will appear differently on OS X. I'll have to wait and see.
LatinMcG
install the pkg in osx .. but in linux its already included.. in terminal lspci -v also make sure your smbios.plist is properly filled. boot with -v -f the osx make sure bios is properly set.. and use Fn F2 to enable wireless. try MacBook3,1 smbios.plist for 10.6.8 ( needs Mac-Fxxx boardid) osxlatitude.com
PREngineer
I need help with my WiFi. The Airport logo is present but it won't show any connections, and in Network Settings it shows as not connected. TimmyK.
Your the first person I've ever known to get Hackintosh on an AMD processor, which I am surprised worked for you because OS X is meant for Intels. I don't know if this is the problem, but I bet it will cause a plethora of quirks and this might be one of them.
LatinMcG
it works. but with hack kernel.. he probably needs smbios.plist fixed and Device (PCI) _ADR change to _UID
TimmyK.
OK, I installed the program and ran the commands they said to, then rebooted. Still doesn't work. And how do I fill this smbios.plist? And I know wireless in enabled in my BIOS. And where can I find the Mac-Fxxx boardid?
TimmyK.
I found this, but do I have to rebrand my Wifi card for it to work?
LatinMcG
u can rebrand in dsdt with registers. but both work.
TimmyK.
OK, I am now thoroughly befuddled. Someone told me: "I found the fix. You have to replace System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Apple80211Monitor.bundle. My problem is that I was trying to revert to the 10.6.7 version. I had to go back to my SL DVD and get the 10.6.3 version before it worked." However, I looked on the DVD and could not find any such file. Do I have to re-install? Most of this thread, especially post #10, made a woosh as it flew past my head. I have no idea how to find, let alone configure, an smbios.plist or dsdt. Can someone please give me a simple, step-by-step guide to getting WiFi?
LatinMcG
what video do u have intel or nvidia? .. Intel video files for gma950 d620 dsdt and files i did for a friend. but his card is different. but dsdt fixes should help. use the chameleon2rc installer in my signature link for 1520 ONLY the chameleon.. Use extra from link posted ( if its nvidia let me know different dsdt needed) thanks to www.osxlatitude.com WHAT BIOS VERSION ? TimmyK.
What does my video card have to do with Wifi? But it is an Intel 945GM. But I'm afraid that at this point I do not have enough computer expertise to understand anything other than a simple, to-the point step-by-step guide, so I do not yet understand what to do. LatinMcG
i guess u need to be spoonfed. (and i did). the files in the link above is FULL STUFF U NEED for 10.6.7 or less. i dunno if they work on 10.6.8 yet best bet is check osxlatitude.com on results of d620 10.6.8 (DSDT.AML= is part of hardware description osx sees from chameleon2 rc5 bootloader) 1: put Extra in the main hard disk of osx. (the extra in the d620 intel video type refering to 2 types of motherboard for D620 Nvidia video being other kind. are u drinking ??) 2: instal Chameleon2 rc5 (which is in my pack in my signature bellow NOT THE EXTRA IN IT!) 3: reboot at type -v -f and see how it runs. you will need kext wizard (in new releases section of forum) to install kexts like fakesmc.kext acipibattery and voodoohda to /System/Library/Extensions
TimmyK.
OK, so go to extra in the hard disk. Then what? Then install chameleon... I don't understand this part. Type in -v -f as it is booting? Then install fakesmc.kext? Or, since I am obviously not as smart as you guys are, would it be easier just to get a AR5B91 or BCM94321? TimmyK.
You mean the part where it asks me to choose between my bootloader and my hard disk?
TimmyK.
OK, I booted after typing -v -f and now WiFi is working! But I haven't installed Chameleon or any kexts. I just rebooted, and this does appear to be a permanent fix (maybe I already installed chameleon a while back, I can't remember). Thanks to all commentors, especially LatinMcG, for helping me solve this.
