Theta Posted June 21, 2011 Share Posted June 21, 2011 I've been building Hackintoshes since Apple went Intel and I've never seen a software bug that only applied to the "fake" Macs that didn't apply to the "real" ones. The problems would almost always be hardware-related (typically, a device doesn't exist on an Apple Mac so you have to hack or have someone else hack a solution and your results may vary). That's why this problem seems completely odd. Situation: 2009 MacBook Pro with Lion DP4+Updates and Asus P8P67 Pro i7 2600K with Lion DP4+Updates. Mail configured with two Exchange 2007 servers (that is, each Mac has Mail configured to sync with two Exchange accounts). The MacBook Pro works just fine. The Hackintosh seems to work fine but, as the day goes on, folders start "disappearing" from each Exchange box. Eventually (or immediately) key folders like Inbox or Sent Items disappear and Mail starts behaving really poorly. Quitting and restarting will sometimes refresh all folders; other times resyncing will; other times, going offline and back online will work. But, even if I see 100% of the folders for each account, they will disappear as time goes by. The strange thing is that the ENTIRE Library folder was copied FROM the Hackintosh TO the MacBook and the MacBook is the one that works. Even if I delete all Mail-related preferences, caches, Application Support, etc. and start from scratch, I have the same issue. Normally, this would be a bug report to file with Apple but since it works on the real Mac, its kind of hard to do so. I realize that Lion is still beta but it just seems odd that an application and not hardware would work completely fine on one and not on another. No other "odd" issues appear on the Hackintosh that don't appear on the MacBook. My question to the forum is really just whether anyone else is using Mail with one or more Exchange servers and experiencing similar effects. copperlab Posted July 27, 2011 Share Posted July 27, 2011 I am having this problem as well on an imac. The only thing that is a bit differnt on my setup is this. That I have an ssd with os and apps on it and I have a hdd with the user folder. So I have changed where my user folder resides. I don't know if that could be part of the problem. But either way I am having the same problem as you. Interesting. I have the same configuration (not an SSD but two volumes: one boot/OS and one for my User folder(s)).
