MxPxSumBlink4182
ok so, i had 10.6.3 installed but could not get my tv-out to work so i downgraded to iatkos 10.5.7. My graphics card is a nvidia geforce 8400gs. it has 1 dvi, 1 vga, and one tv out. i am trying to be able to use two of these at once but it never works. if i connect both my tv, and vga monitor at the same time, the screens stay black but if i boot up using just the tv, or just the monitor it works just fine. what am i doing wrong? im using the nvinject kext as well as nait dual
josephien
never use 2 injectors, also when using 10.6 just use the graphicsenabler=yes option from the chameleon bootloader
MxPxSumBlink4182
So if i do a clean install of 10.6.3 using chameleon 2 rc5, how do i use the graphicsenabler=yes option. im sorry, ive been using osx86 for a while now but never really understood how chameleon works or how to use its features. or will this alone do the trick? josephien
yep that should do the trick
MxPxSumBlink4182
yea, i thought so too. But still i can only use one screen at a time. While im installing 10.6.3, should i use ncinject or nvkush. also, what about efi strings? this is really making me crazy
Gringo Vermelho
Try using the DVI output instead of the VGA output. Use a DVI-VGA adapter if you have to. Stick with GraphicsEnabler=y, don't use nvkush, nvinject or nvdarwin, they are old and obsolete. If you must use a .kext injector use something recent like NVEnabler or ATY_Init. MxPxSumBlink4182
ive already tried dvi with the same result. I will try a fresh install using chameleon rc5, Graphicsenabler=yes and NVEnabler. thanks so much for all of your help, ill post results asap
MxPxSumBlink4182
same result but now it says "couldnt find table DSDT.aml
Gringo Vermelho
That's not an error message, it's a status message. It's not in any way related to your display issue. Nothing to worry about.
MxPxSumBlink4182
it may be just an error but still i can only use one screen at a time. if i try to detect screens, it doesnt find the second one
josephien
you must boot with the tv connected and powered on, by the way how are you connecting your tv?
MxPxSumBlink4182
ive tried every single configuration. i tried s-video, and rgb on the tv. and ive tried vga and dvi on the monitor
josephien
is your card correctly recognized in the system profiler? also do you have a translucent menu bar (do you see the background through the bar)??
MxPxSumBlink4182
no it isnt and i have no idea why. In 10.5.7 i have quartz extreme and i have translucent menu bar and opacity but for some reason i cannot get it to work in 10.6.3. Right now im using NVEnabler kext and graphicsenabler=yes but still no quartz and still only one screen at a time Just so you guys know, i dont care what version of OSX i have to use. If i have to go back to 10.5.7 thats fine with me. I just want to be able to use my tv as an extended desktop or even a mirror screen
josephien
you should not be using any injector with the graphicsenabler=yes option so please try without the nvenabler kext!!
MxPxSumBlink4182
im doing a fresh install right now. All im going to use iss chameleon 2rc5 and graphicsenabler=yes. no nvinject, no nvkush, and no nvenabler. ill post results asap
MxPxSumBlink4182
still no luck. only one screen at a time will work and now system profiler doesnt detect the geforce 8400gs. now all it says is gpu pci-e. and no quartz extreme. this is driving me insane, what am i missing? Gringo Vermelho
Download the attached file and extract the contents to your desktop. Make sure the bdmesg binary is on your desktop, not inside a folder. bdmesg.zip Open a terminal prompt and enter cd ~/desktop cp bdmesg /usr/bin reboot Open a terminal prompt and enter bdmesg > ~/desktop/bdmesg.txt zip and attach bdmesg.txt here (use the full editor to attach files). MxPxSumBlink4182
OK, so i installed that version of chameleon and it has actually gotten worse. Now i can use the monitor (still only when the tv is unplugged) but if i try to use the tv only, it goes through chameleon and the apple boot screen but then all i get is a blue screen.
