Hello,

I would like to have your recommendations on motherboard/cpu for building a low-power/silent (most important requirement) server that would run Snow Leopard, and possibly Lion as vanilla as possible. The server will be primarily serving files (8Tb currently) and directory services for 2 Macbook Pros and 1 Hackintosh, plus 2 XBMC Linux boxes (so I need to run AFP and NFS). Must be silent/very quiet, thus being low power is a requirement.

I current run a Ubuntu server that is a very low-power and quiet machine, running fanless on the following pieces of hardware.

Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H/µATX

AMD SEMPRON LE-1250 2.2GHZ

Corsair 2GB-800 Twin2X1Gb PC6400

Noctua NH-U12P heatsin

I suppose it is not easy to install OS X vanilla on such a hardware, therefore I am intending to buy new mobo/cpu and reuse the rest (HDs, case, etc). Ideally, but not mandatory, a LGA775 would be best in order to re-use the Noctua heatsink.

Thanks for your suggestions!!!
