You are correct, but for some reason your main display isn't initialized properly, hence the bug. I tried to emulate the connector-type: 00 and i get similar bug (no console log output tho) from what i saw, if the system didnt KP untill the display went to sleep, the bug was gone when i would just press a key to turn the display back on.

They are all 0 using stock files, however on my system the audio codec is: 03 01 00 00, probably because i tried to get HDMI working. About the hdmi, are you sure it's 04 like the dp port?

Feel free to try this... don't forget to experiment both with 8,1 and 8,2 sys def.

Hi guys,

I've installed Lion on my Dell and worked with it for a while. I don't think that I will keep it because the bugs are to big... The graphic card is not recognized, sometimes the system stucks for a while, here and there is a small bug.

I was thinking to use it really instead of a mac and work with programs like photoshop, logic (audio recording), final cut (video montage) but it all works slow.

Final cut 7 doesn't install at all, without reasons. Photoshop 6 is too slow.

Is it on me or is the system just full of bugs and not fixed yet?

Is it not better to install Lion through VMware on Linux???

Thnx!

It's just you... over the past pages you asked for help i noticed you skipped some steps from the guide/guides around here... Photoshop 6? really? it's not even 64 bit.. im amazed it even installed on Lion....

Emulation an OS is one, having it installed is another thing, the differences in performances are immense.

Anything that has to do with gpu intensive tasks are not goin to run well on osx. The nvidia gpu isn't supported obviously, and the integrated graphics can't handle the gpu intensive task. I've noticed it in iMovie for example.

I use AdobePremiere Pro, i honestly have no problem... it's faster than my old 8600GT and according to some performance chart i found on the internet it's correct...

@jkbuha, could you provide me with your connector table dump?

Guess you are right, but i actually did install all the kexts on the right way through your help (Thnx again!) and the system does its best.

I just think that performance wise it is enough for the office work, but not if you want to work with video/audio on a hight level. Photoshop is a 64 bit version but doesn't work good too.

I think it's all about the problem with the graphic card recognization. The onboard graphics won't handle all that.

I just need the mac system for Logic Pro and for Final Cut 7, otherwise I would use Windows.

What could I do? Should better to buy a Mac?

Thnx a lot!

There are definately alternatives to final cut pro as DoiX mentioned.

Buying a mac would be shooting yourself in the foot. You'd pay more money, for a product with inferior performance to the L502x, and it would just be "old" once the new MacBook came out.

It's true that they become old very quickly but a half as fast Macbook works faster than a L502 because the graphics are working correctly. Don't you agree?

Would you recommend to use VMware for Lion? Or is the performance even more worse?

This dell model scores an higher avg than the MBP8,2 (geekbench scores) http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/547462 < 10gb memory i score around the same with 6gb memory. Score might be higher if our nvidia gpu's would be working.

And no, of course i don't recommend emulating Lion... of course the performances would be even worse, i don't even think you would have qe/ci on it.

Sadly this didn't work either. Tried MBP8,1-8,2-8,3, with both your kexts and mine alternatively. Once I get to do anything graphics intensive, the "apparent debug" happens. Found out that my EDID is displayed properly though. Also - and this is *really* weird - if I rotate the LCD display by 90degrees using switchresx, there are no hangups. Of course it's unusable, but for some reason the driver is happier with a 1080x1920 display that isn't workable. That, and switching to an external monitor only (via MiniDP - 0004, sorry made a mistake on HDMI - it's 0008) works without hangups.

Any ideas?

Cheers

jkbuha

Hmm, i think i have one or two more ideas... first: have you tried injecting 0116 id? second: could you dump the connector info table please and a new ioreg file with the screen rotated.

I installed it. but it says keyboard not connected at welcome screen and i cannot proceed. help wat to do

If you have an external USB keyboard, plug it and it will run! When you will be on the desktop of OS X, install DoiX's package and after rebooting, everything will work :)

Hope this will help you, that's the way I did it.

Thanks for your reply buddy. unfortunately i dont have an extra usb keyboard. and its night time here, so have to wait till tomorrow. i have an usb mouse though and it works !

Hey,

Try this, it does take time.

just press all the keys on the keyboard, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN

WAIT! (takes long time)

Just keep pressing keys once in a while and MAGICALLY it will jump to the next screen :)

tried and tested my me about 4-5 times worked all the time.

Then now touchpad wont work so you need to navigate through using keyboard only, use Ctrl+F2 to get to disk manager etc, tab change the highlighted button and spacebar to select it, arrow keys also works

p.s doesnt anyone read my posts :P

Well it worked but two problems. first is my battery is not detected. second i cant boot without rboot le. so i am reinstalling again. and should i install kexts first or run kext utility first ??? which should be done first ?

follow the guide and you should have everything working.

try this detailed guide by AKennedy_4

For god's sake, how many times must i repeat this. INSTALL THE PROPER SYSTEM DEFINITION FROM MULSTIBEAST! MacBookPro 8,1... God damn it people, don't randomly skip steps, you always end up skipping the one you need the most.

Are you sure? Because that line of code you linked means the system is fully loaded as the sound is actually the last to load hence it's either that.. either you have a Full HD screen (1920x1080p) and you didn't install the proper DSDT from the package/forum.

i installed the normal HD DSDT from your installer package with Macbook pro 8,1 and Speedstepper with 9 turbo boosts. i dont have Full HD screen. wat are the things that load after sound ??

or is it that i am using chimera 1.6, thats the prob ??? or related to my bios A09 ???

Guys, look at my guide before posting here. I have posted solutions to most common problems. Y'all are annoying the heck out of DoiX. Please search before you post

For heavy bass issue: check my guide

For the boot issue: if DoiX package isn't installing correctly, try to install via the pack I provided in my guide. Whichever method you use, make sure you RUN KEXT UTILITY AND REPAIR PERMISSIONS IN DISK UTILITY.

The reason you can't boot without RBootLE is that the kext arent installed correctly. All your issues (sound, battery, an anything else WILL be fixed if they are installed correctly)
