I will be posting my Guide so far for getting Snow Leopard up and running on the new Alienware m14x.

My Config:

i7 Core SB 2630qm 2.0Ghz

8gb Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz Ram

Nvidia gt555m/Intel HD 3000 Optimus GFX

500gb 7200rpm Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid HDD w/ 4gb SSD

ALC665 HD Audio

AS OF NOW (5-29-2011)

Working:

Keyboard/Trackpad

Intel HD 3000 w/ full resolution and QE/CI (Have not figured out how to initialize the nVidia gt555m though)

Onboard Ethernet

NOT Working:

nVidia gt555m

Onboard Wifi

USBs (For some reason I can't get the USB2.0 port to recognize, and the two USB3.0 ports are recognized after NEC3.0 kext from #####, but when you plug something into them it hangs the system and you have to reboot)

Audio - ALC665 (I have tried a few different kext options, none seem to work. I have yet to try and pull a DSDT and edit because I am unfamiliar with the ways of doing so, but this could be a solution to many of the problems with this as well as the USB situation)

Wifi will just not work because of lack of drivers/kext for ANY Intel Wifi configs. So there for I have a D-Link DWA-140 that works perfectly with the latest Realtek drivers.

Big thanks to Lenovo3000, Kyle_C, Bcc9 for there amazing progress with the Intel HD3000, and wen1 for pointing me in the right direction!

I will post the steps in a few after I gather all the files and locations to post up.

Ok, so here is my deal. I recently got a m14x, yes the new Alienware. I successfully installed 10.6.3 via ##### + SL DVD. Then proceeded to update to 10.6.6 and used ##### to set up the kexts, etc. Now when I go to reboot after, I get a hang when it can't recognize the Nvidia GT335M. I get the line: nvidia unknown 0mb NVc3 [10de:0dcd] :: PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/(0x0,0x0)

Here is the catcher, If I try to boot normally, its hangs there for a while and after about 5 minutes, it tries to go further and then I get a blank screen. If I type -v -x, I get the same thing. If I type -v GraphicsEnabler=YES, within 5 seconds of logs it goes to a blank screen.

IF i boot with the ##### disc and choose my Leopard Partition with -v -x it hangs at that line, but 5 minutes of hanging it will boot to OSX Safe Mode!! (No nvidia enabled obv).

Keep in mind, this is a Optimus Lappy, nvidia gt335m and Intel HD 3000.

Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, I have tried the 10.6.7 Combo from 10.6.3 and it does the same thing. Also tried it in combination with Tonymacs nvidia update.

I'm having a hard time after installing 10.6.6, changing the ID from MacPro 3,1 to Macbook Pro 1,8

Thanks guys!

Ok, I got this puppy up and running now without any -v -x flags, only problem is I have to run it with GraphicsEnabler=NO. Its Optimus, running Intel HD integrated gfx (I think 3000) and a GT555m. Neither is recognized so im stuck in 1280x768...I would love for some sort of input whether how to get the intel recognized or the full gfx with CE/CI if possible. anyone out there willing to help me out?!?!

Hi,

i have a system like yours;

Acer Aspire Ethos 8951G

:: Processor = Intel Core i7 2630QM 2 GHz

:: Mainboard = Intel HM65

:: Memory = 16384 MB, DDR3 SDRAM-PC3-8500-1066 MHz

:: Graphics adapter = NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M

:: Soundcard = Realtek High definition audio

:: Connections = 3 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0, 1 Firewire, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 Kensington Lock, 1 eSata, Audio Connections: 1 line in, 1 line out, 1 S/PDIF, Card Reader: MMC, SD Memory Card, xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, SDXC, 1 Fingerprint Reader,

:: Networking = Realtek RTL8168/8111 Gigabit-LAN (10/100/1000MBit), Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter (bgn), Bluetooth 3.0 + HS Bluetooth

:: Optical drive = Mat{censored}a BD-MLT UJ240AF

i tried to install many times lion 10.7.3. Everything works, wifi-ethernet-webcam-sound EXCEPT intel HD3000 graphics. Suprisingly system install Nvidia GT555m to see GT450m!

when i install osx, i checked intel hd3000+nvidia options, seems nvidia installed, but for HD3000 "no kext loaded" and of course only resolution 1024x768... :(

I saw you work full accelarated HD3000. I think I'm doing something wrong! please help me! because i'm very tired to search and try and re-install the osx!

Thanks.
