Source: MacRumors.com They should have and could have used USB 3 ports so people can take advantage of currently available USB3 devices until Thunderbolt becomes widely available. A bad political strategy. There is great interest already in thunderbolt despite USB3 on the market. USB3 will suffice for some uses already without the need for thunderbolt
Hangten
Z68 = SATA 3 intel flavor optional and or SSD cache for HDD Hybrid. No USB 3 Intel flavor Socket 2011 *X79 = rumor is Hexa/ Octa core,Quad channel memory, native USB 3 and SATA 3. Pushed release date to 2012 1Q instead of this years Christmas. Perhaps Apple has a one year thunderbolt start legally! Hence, the later release. Mac Pro Thunderbolt anyone on a PCI-E X16 is that??? Back to topic: I love the 27" iMac, screen is amazing looking. Would buy one but, MBP seems great also.
